Q: Can this be used with a light therapy lamp? Thanks! :)

This device works with light fixtures that can be dimmed. This includes incandescent bulbs and certain LED bulbs that are OK'd for dimming. Compact Fluorescent bulbs usually can not be dimmed. The device will supply up to 300 Watts of power. I would check with the manufacturer of your lamp to see if it can be safely dimmed, and verify that the wattage required doesn't exceed 300 W. For an inexpensive fix, you can pick up a flood light and a clamp on lamp housing at a hardware store for ~ $5 until you can sort out a permanent solution. Waking up with dawn emulation is a must this time of year!

Q: Does the unit also dim off to simulate dusk?

I don't recall if Lighten-Up! has a model that includes a dusk-sim, but you might try one of the lights from Philips, such as the HF3471, HF3485, HF3510, HF3520, or HF3550. I don't have personal experience with any of them, but they seem to get pretty good reviews.

This device works with the plug so the number of bulbs shouldn't matter as long as the total wattage is within limits. You cannot use this device with compact fluorescent bulbs at all.

Q: Will the backup battery turn the light on while the power is out or does it just keep the unit from loosing your settings?

It only saves the settings.. The light plugs into the device so without power, neither will work.
