Chronological and Background Charts of the Old Testament (Zondervan Charts)

It is nothing like zondervan other books like commentaries and bible surveys which ...
The information in this book is extremely handy. I do not have quarrels with the information, but rather the quality of the book. It is nothing like zondervan other books like commentaries and bible surveys which have top notch quality printing and quality paper. The quality of this book is more of a coloring book you can get at the dollar store. Maybe I expected too much since I own many zondervan published material, but this is certainly not worth $16. Maybe $12 since the information is valuable, but the book is short too. However, it is intended to be reference material. As reference material, I hope the book can survive being opened and closed frequently. I am uninspired to use it other than when I have a deep hunger to find something out chronologically. Zondervan could have done much better for the quality of paper, but the well organized information, I will admit, is valuable and worthy of a $12 or maybe even $14 price tag - but certainly not $16 for a 100 page coloring book without pictures.

Good material in a single publication, but . . .
This book is an update of one I bought over 30 years ago. It has more information that's been added, however some of the new information isn't as good as the old. Examples: The Egyptian chronology of pharaohs isn't as complete. Even worse, the old version's excellent parallel timeline of Israel's and Judah's kings, along with corresponding prophets, has been sadly omitted. I bought this version as a used book (always somewhat risky) and paid very little for it. Now that I have both, I can find the information I need. I do, however, recommend this new version as very worthwhile, whether for your own fun and edification, or as a quick reference resource when making up lessons.

Very great Old Testament resource. You need to have this book in your library.
I am one lesson away from finishing an Old Testament survey class in a local Bible Institute, and charts and graphs from this book were used every week in our lessons. This came in very handy, even more so than I had originally thought. There are charts in this book on nearly everything that you can imagine pertaining to the Old Testament. One small complaint that I have with the book is the fact that the charts and graphs seem to be organized in no constructive manner. They are not chronological in nature, nor are they alphabetical in nature. I have still yet to figure out exactly how the charts are organized in the work. Aside from that, I can't think of anything else wrong with this work.If you're going to be teaching in Old Testament class soon, I would recommend purchasing a copy of this. It also comes with the publishers permission to make copies for classroom use. I can't tell you how many times I referred to this book while teaching an OT Survey class.Blessings in ChristMichael HarbuckByron GeorgiaThis is a third party review, from an impartial consumer. I was not paid for this review, nor was I provided a complementary copy of the material from the publisher for my review.

Organization at Your Fingertips
Ever been reading through the Bible and had a hard time figuring out exactly how history fits into the Biblical narrative? Did Abraham get to play with his grandkids, Jacob and Esau? How long did the Flood last? How can one easily identify all the kings of Israel? If you answered, read a chart about it, you're absolutely correct!Chronological and Background Charts of the Old Testament is an invaluable resource for any Bible student - layperson or scholar. 118 pages covering 102 charts on everything from Bible chronology to ancient Near Eastern history to comparisons of various Bible study methods, this book has the chart you need to help you put the Bible into context.Great for personal use or group study, these charts provide the reader with unparalleled visual organization that get you the information you want without making you spend hours trying to figure it out. It's a great resource, and I certainly recommend it! Definitely came in handy during my college-level class on Genesis.

Excellent Tool to Understand Biblical Prophecy
A must have for those who understand that the Word of God is verily the WORD OF GOD. As Ecclesiastes tells us that, that which has happened in the past shall occur again, agreeing with Paul that the stories in the Old Testament were given especially for those who live in the last days. Great book, but what are the units for distance?
Lots of interesting, useful charts. One chart shows distances between Biblical locations, but I was wondering whether the numbers are indicating miles or kilometers (or something else -- cubits maybe?). Don't see a Questions section on this Amazon product page, so here I am asking the question as part of a review!

Don't buy Kindle version
The book might be great on paper, but it is relatively useless in this digital form. I travel a lot, so I need digital copies for my college classes. This digital book just ended up wasting my money.

Helpful tool along with reading and understanding OT background
I personally like certain series of those Zondervan charts. We can't organize all the Bible information by charts, but still to grasp general ideas while we are reading the OT, it is helpful to find the answers. The subject index helps whether there are answers or not in the book. The book contains not only the biblical information, but also present different point of views toward certain topics. This book would help to understand the OT background and also see certain topics in different views.
