Why Choose The MCS Journeyman Double Edge Safety Razor? Sometimes, the old way is better. Traditional shaving is making a comeback with men who want to free themselves from over-priced multi-bladed monstrosities, or a closer, irritation free shave experience. Transitioning from cartridge razors has never been easier than it is today. Sure, there’s a learning curve, you may nick yourself a few times, but it won’t hurt or scar. You can shave for a YEAR with our Double Edge Razor for the price of one package of multi-blade cartridges! Keep your hard earned dollar in your wallet. A cartridge costs about $3.50. It’s good for 3-4 shaves, but because It’s pricey, men often keep using it beyond it’s prime. Safety Razor Blades cost less than 20 cents each, and easily last 3-6 shaves, depending on your beard. Wet Shaving prevents ingrown hairs & razor burn. Cartridges lift the hair, and then cut it. Because hair is elastic it contracts below the skin causing ingrown hairs as it grows. Safety Razors cut the hair even with the skin, minimizing the risk of ingrown hairs and irritation. Mild/Medium Aggressiveness Aggressiveness is based on how far the blade is from the guard. An aggressive razor has is wider, and a mild razor has a narrow gap. This determines how much of the hair (or skin) will be exposed to the blade when shaving. If your razor is too aggressive you’ll get nicks and cuts. If it’s is too mild you’ll have to shave the same area over and over to get a close shave, causing razor burn. Our Journeyman Razor is the best of both worlds. It has a mild to medium aggressiveness. You’ll get a close shave, but you won’t want to run out and buy a more aggressive razor as soon as you get the basic technique down. Other razors, often sold to men who want to be vikings, have such a mild blade exposure that they’ll barely cut more than stubble.

pretty nice
Ill have to admit i was hesitant to use a Safety razor , I had a friend of mine who had tried one before and ended up looking like he was at the losing end of a fight with a cat , but i had wanted to try one out because i had researched what would be a good razor for people with coarse facial hair and safety razors kept coming up . I saw many razors with people who used them and wound up cutting their faces up pretty bad so when i saw this one said great for beginners and that it was not going to break the bank i was sold . As it turns out this really is a great product , not only did i not cut myself up I get a really close shave with no razor bumps afterward ( which i frequently got from most popular razor cartridge brands ) . So In short , I would recommend this razor for those looking into safety razors , not only do you get a great shave (so long as you take the proper time to do so ) you will also save a ton a money in comparison to the typical razor these days .

Close shave...too close.
Close shave...too close. I got several cuts from using this. I am used to disposable razors with multiple blades. I tried this because I wanted to be able to clean the blade off instead of having it clog with hair after two strokes. This razor feels like good quality and the razor loads easily, but it cuts up my leg. I really wish someone would make a razor like the multi-blade disposables that open for cleaning.

Fell apart twice
I tightened it down to hold the razor blade in place... you know, so a loose razor wouldn't cut my face skin off like a potato peeler. One of the little wings that secures the blades fell off entirely. It just fell off. I fixed it, tried again, and it fell off again. I figured out what the issue was, held it together while I tightened it, and it's currently in one piece. Not very impressed by this thing. I had a better one from the As Seen On TV aisle at Meijer.

Cheap price = cheap quality
You get what you pay for! What a piece of junk. My first time using this razor and it broke. Tightened it so that both 'butterfly wings' would close securely. Big mistake. Bottom end cap falls out and one of the 'butterfly wings' also fell off. Used super glue for end cap and reset the 'wing' back into place. But this is inferior quality item. Im so disappointed but then again it was cheap. Lesson learned: cheap price = cheap quality. Hoping to send back.

High quality
Great quality razor. Only cons were that it begins to loosen after just a few minutes of shaving but nothing super concerning. If you have never used a safety razor before I highly recommend watching some videos and reading up on safety razors. Otherwise it was a great purchase.

DONT BUY THIS RAZOR
I bought this in hopes of being smarter with my money, razors are expensive. I have a thick beard and grow hair back very quickly, so a great razor is a must. I was very disappointed with this razor. It left me my face bloody and raw. I’ve taken to using y boyfriends razor instead of this one for months now. I’m writing now as I just used it tonight and am still seeing the same results. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Look into spending a bit more into a better razor. My parent razor cost him over a hairdresser dollars and I’ve never once had a problem with it. Now, I’m not spending 100$ on a razor, but I do hear good things about a MERKUR. I’m doing my research on it now. DONT BUT THIS RAZOR

You get what you pay for!
Works better than all the fancy multi rasor heads. Has a very satisfying wheight to it as well. The case plastic felt very cheap though. As well as the fitting of the contraption that holds the rasor. Will use this for travel mostly and probably buy a nice expensive one for everyday use. You get what you pay for!

Decent but Fragile
This was my first experience with a safety razor. Overall, it’s taught me how to use safety razors, whether I liked them, and what to look for in future ones. One complaint from my end though. After using for a little while and storing in the case sent with it, parts of the razor were bent out of shape. (Note: I have not been rough with it in any way) I have bent it back into place and it continues to function but I still have to watch out for it.Overall, a decent razor.
