Delicious Mauritius: Tastes and tales from my mother's kitchen

This is a fantastic book with funny stories embedded with each recipe. It gives you a great authentic flavour of the Island of Mauritius. Combining French cuisine with an Afro and Indian flavour. I can not fault it. The most innovative recipe book ever, you must try the Gateau Piment it’s delicious.

Some of the recipes are familiar, some are old favourites with a new twist and some are completely new. All are extremely tasty and, together with the book's evocative stories, bring vibrant island tastes, sights and sounds into the dreariest winter day. It's so lovely to read the authors' memories of Mauritius along with the wonderful food that triggers them. This book is packed with such Proustian moments.

I read a lot of books all the time if you want some of my recommendations check this book out, especially if you are passionate about Mauritian cuisine, tastes, tradition and history ! Enjoy this book !

Great ideas to make

Lots of recipes included but no photos. Formatting isn’t great. Could have been a really good cookbook but execution is under par and looks rushed.

I was given this book as a Christmas present by my husband and found that not only have I enjoyed discovering the recipes; I have also loved reading the anecdotes and tales from Mauritius that are told with such love and touching humour by the author.....a wonderful book that I throughly recommend!!

A delicious collection of recipes, mixed with beautiful memories and anecdotes. Such a beautiful style of writing for an equally beautiful country! I love Mauritius!!!

An excellent introduction to Mauritian cookery and culture. The authors charm you and share their joy and love of Mauritian food.

Written by a mother and son with all his favourites from his mother's kitchen !

I liked the vegetarian recipes very much.. It gave me new ideas of meal to make when our daughter in law comes to visit.

The only thing is no pictures. A bit disappointed
