Good scope, but not a good first scope
I've been doing astrophotography for 4 years. Glad I got this SkyMax 150 now, not first. SkyMax 150 is slow, highly powerful, and difficult to use compared to other scopes. But it's great for lucky imaging, and has higher contrast than refractor scopes. Took this shot of the Moon night one. It's 6 close up shots stitched together, lucky imaging, shooting 3000 frames, Exposure per frame: 0.33 ms, FPS: 55, with Player One Uranus-M camera. Stacked 210 frames. Closer up Moon pix were taken with SkyMax 150 and a Baader 2x VIP Barlow, so 3600mm.

Great Starter Mak
Very happy with this scope! The views are nice, and no calibration is needed. The only limitation is it’s light-gathering ability - you can’t really zoom in anymore if you want to be able to see anything unless you’re looking at the moon or possibly planets (haven’t bought the eyepiece yet for this). I bought an eyepiece that lets me zoom in slightly for different objects (like the Hercules Cluster). I’m tempted to try an eyepiece that gives me a wider field of view, but I’m afraid the loss of light wouldn’t be worth it. I can see why the size up from this one is almost twice as much. A good scope regardless though.
