Q: Do wicks or oil go bad after not using them for years ? They light fine but won't keep the stone hot ?

I've had mine for 15 years. I hadn't used it in 3 or 4. Filled the bottle, let.thenwick.soak for a bit, lit it, and it worked great. The procedure is 1. Be sure the wick is soaked, 2. Light it, 3. Let it burn for 5.minutes, 6. blow it out, 7. Place the diffuser cap on it (the one with slits), and place.it for 30 minutes. After that, replace.the slit diffuser cap.with the solid cap to stop the process. I had Christmas.company who.smoked in their bedrooms. When they left, the rooms smelled.of stale smoke. I used the lampe berger in each for 30.minutes, and the rooms are nice and fresh smelling again. (I used sweet pear, which is a light, fragrant pear scent that's not sickly sweet.) Hope that helps.. These lamps are amazing.
