Women of the Bible for Women of Color - Large Print

I didn’t like this book at first because it’s basically brief synopsis of several women in the Bible, written by different authors. After give the book a chance and reading some of the articles I actually like it. While the articles are brief it does call out things about the women that I’ve never thought of while reading their stories in the scriptures. For example, I never wondered how Bathsheba felt after losing her husband, a king simply taking her away, etc. She appears powerlessness and quiet, as the book pointed out. It ask us to imagine how she could have felt. Another example, Tamar, basically raped and then not being able to remarry. How terrible of feeling that must have been. The book calls our attention to that. The book doesn’t give more detail than what’s in the Bible but it does make you think a bit more into the characters.As an Israelite woman, considering slavery, the everyday and historical plight of the so-called Black woman, this book helps us to realize that even our foremothers experienced some of the social, economic, and political battles that we have dealt with.I also like the quality of the book, it is well-written, sturdy pages, nice font, and large print.Putting this all into perspective I actually like this book. I gave it four stars because I was hoping it would give more insight into the women of the Bible. What you read in the Bible about these women you will also read in this book but it calls us to look deeper into their experiences, perhaps we or someone we know have experienced something the same. So now when I read about the “Black” women in the Bible, I’ll be sure to ponder more on their story, read between the lines and imagine the feelings may have felt.

It is a good book it's getting me more into the word. I have more clarity and what my purpose is.

This is a great book for people who’d like a synopsis of some of the women in the Bible. The pictures and large print add to the greatness of this book!

Learning about the women of the Bible makes me want to read the Bible MORE!!
