Easy to Install
The directions are very clear and easy to understand. The triple layer does provide good insulation compared to my previous single layer dog door.

Great option and install not too bad
Buying this dog door was long overdue for us, with 4 dogs we were constantly letting them in or out. The door itself works great, so far it has given a good proper seal every time our dogs pass through it. The magnets on the inside and outside appear to job the job well, and the snap on cover comes in handy to keep dogs from using it when we need them to stay inside. I installed ours in a standard metal clad exterior door, installation was not that complicated but it will require a few tools (most DYI people probably own or can borrow I.e. jig saw, drill, utility knife. I had it in and cleaned up in about an hour. ((Some less experienced people may want to get a handy friend to help or just get someone else to install it)). While I did cut the hole in the door in place to save time, it would no doubt be easier to do with the door taken off and rested on saw horses. Overall I'm very happy with this door and would recommend it.

Good product, lousy directions
Product works as advertised, but the installation directions are very poor. Some parts came with the door that had no explanation as to how you are to use them. It really would not have taken much effort to make a decent set of installation directions in this day and age, I am puzzled why they would not do so. It made the installation take much longer as I tried different configurations trying to figure out the best way to install and to figure out the mystery parts. As an example the unit came with 2 rolls of foam strip, a long one and a short one, for extra insulation. The directions show you wrapping the foam (the long foam strip) around the inner flange, but when you do this, you can't push the bolts though. What I wound up doing is getting the door partially installed, then shoving the foam in with a screw driver. Not sure if this has much of an effect. I never did figure out what the shorter piece was for, not a clue in the directions. There were a couple of pieces of plastic that I figured out were for holding the bottom threshold of the door in place. They did not fit very well, it was a puzzle to figure out how to use them. I broke the threshold off the bottom strip in my attempts to figure them out. The part broke off so easily, I still wonder if it was supposed to come off! The clips seem to hold it in place is spite of the breakage. No mention of this in the directions. The directions instructed you to orientate the side flange pieces a certain way, but when you did, the seal strips did not align with the insulating flap, so I had to reverse them. That said, the product has a very good seal, a triple one, the outer flap, the insulating flap and the inner flap. After the dog passes through, a couple of swings and a "snap" as the magnets seal the door. The dog seems to be enjoying it, we certainly are, not having to constantly let the dog in and out. We installed the the flap on the door leading out to our garage, so we leave the side garage door open for the dog to get outside, which we shut when there's nobody in the house, so no security worries. Which is good as this door has a snap-on cover that provides no security at all. Seems that they should figure out a way to secure the cover better than just snapping on.We got the large unit for our 70lb Shepard/lab mix and she has no problems going to and fro. I saw some complaints about the nylon screws, but they worked fine for me, securing the frame snugly. I have noticed that there are fewer flying insects in the house since we installed the door, which is an unexpected bonus. This is my first dog-door, so I can't offer any comparisons to other brands or models.

This Works Precisely As Advertised - A Money Saver! But It Now!
The house I purchased already had a PetSafe door installed. I love it! It has worked great and took a mere 5 minutes and some treats to teach my pup to use it. As the weather has cooled a fairly significant draft has begun to develop. Due to this I purchased the Extreme Weather Energy Efficient pet door. Installation was very easy because the "hardest" part, cutting a hole in the door, was already completed. The rest of the installation was very quick and mostly straight forward.Right away I noticed a big difference between this and the basic version. This has 2 plastic flaps (versus the 1 flap on the basic version) as well as the insulated yellow flap, weatherstripping, as well as plastic clips to help weatherproof the plastic inner pieces. The plastic bolts do work, though you should be careful not to over-tighten and crack them. This is very well thought out. It works as advertised. This kit includes the foam for additional sealing. Nothing else is needed if you purchase this kit, except the tools for installation. Do not purchase the seal kit separately! You can pick up RTV (Silicone) from a local auto parts store for cheap if needed. The prior owner installed it too low (At least for my 60 lb Siberian Husky), so please do not go off the photo for installation height. Make sure to read the included directions on measuring your pup and cutting the hole accordingly.Overall this is worth every penny! In the middle of the night if my pup wakes me up to go out all I do is open my bedroom door. She goes downstairs and out into the yard to do her business. During the day when I am here she comes and goes as she pleases. If I have to stay late at work I do not have to rush home or worry that she has been home alone for too long without using the bathroom. If it is snowing and she wants to go outside for an hour or two she can. I do not need to check on her every 10 minutes to see if she is ready to come back inside. This is really a life changer! She absolutely loves the freedom as well! If you are even considering this purchase, just add it to your cart now and buy it!

It works!
The media could not be loaded. This dog door works as intended. Installing it requires a jigsaw, and some time and patience. I wouldn't say it's an easy install, but if you have all the right tools and a few hours it isn't too bad.Dog loves it. Have a blind chow mix who gets easily spooked by particular sounds. In the past, scary sounds would set her off and she'd be clawing the door until her paws were bloody if nobody was home to let her in. Now with this door, if there are scary sounds she can come inside on her own terms. Honestly, it has been the best purchase ever, it has really improved our pooch's quality of life. It does take some time to train a blind dog to use it, but it can be done with patience and love. Highly recommend this product.

Works as intended
This product fit perfectly into our door going in to our back room.It flaps closed every time with the magnet. We have another we ordered that was not insulated and it works great, that is why we bought another one.Worth the money!

Great product, get a friend and some tape before installing
So much better than the previous single clear flap. Resilient against our ‘light speed’ kelpie and the unsubtle GSD.Difficult to fit solo, but judicial use of gaffa tape helps immensely.

A very expensive mistake
This product has absolutely no security features so if fitted any adult can simply crawl through the gap to gain access to your property. The return charges and extra customs payments which were not quoted in the shipping advice made this a very costly mistake. There are much better products out there.
