But to slander a pastor is definitely NOT Christ like and will incur judgement
I heard about this book from my brother, I wasn't sure what to expect other than what I had heard about its inspirational rhetoric. Then as I entered deeper into the book I began to get a revelation and relevance of my own experiences in life and how the Lord had brought me out of very similar places in my previous lifestyle. I have read some negative feedback on the author in the reviews. However, he does not strike me in that light at all. After reading about and relating to Mr. Hallam I am truly inspired by how God moved in his life and ministry. These people leaving these hateful and derogatory reviews have obviously made it personal and have know idea how vicious and cruel the enemy is about trying to dismantle a ministry and or minister. The fact is that in this book you see not only victory but incredible struggle to achieve the calling of the Father in Mr. Hallam life. People are always going to feel as though they want someone else's ministry to run differently or fit their needs. If that is you then "Take up YOUR Cross and follow Jesus!!!" Do not lower yourself to the level that your are speaking evil about a man of God. Remember the Word of God says to remove the plank from your own eye before taking spec out of another person's. The appropriate measures to take is to pray that The Lord reveal things that a person struggles with to them and the Holy spirit delivers them. But to slander a pastor is definitely NOT Christ like and will incur judgement. With that being said. Mr. Hallam thank you for your testimony, thank you for your inspiration and your sacrifice in this ministry for taking the road less traveled. Things are same way in the states, you don't see Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, or these other televangelist confessing their hangup to all mankind all the preach is property. It's between you and God Be encouraged and continue to be a mouthpiece for the Kingdom of Heaven!

What an incredible story! The twists & turns and bizarre "Godincidents".. Truth indeed can be stranger than fiction. I found it very inspiring because it shows that God can use anyone to do great things. It's an easy read - as long as you don't mind the frequent exclamation marks!.. Paul tells his story like he's sitting across a table from you after a nice meal.. Highly recommended.

"Naked and not ashamed"
As at time I started reading this book I'd not met Paul Hallam. However not long into the book I discovered similar struggles in my journey to fulfill God's call and became inspired by not only the journey shared by this book but by the openness of it.He brings us into a real experience of the workings of God in our lives and how by holding on to Him we can be victoriousThis book also highlights how at certain points in our lives we are faced with difficult decisions, it encourages us to pray and focus on the master more rather than circumstances.I would highly recommend this book whether or not you've actually met the author as it would serve to enhance your understanding of walking with God!In addition having subsequently met the author I was pleasantly surprised by his heart and openness to be a blessing at every opportunity.

Rubicon.
Other than the Bible, one of the best books I ever readed each chapter of the book was so inspiring. The first two chapters spoke very much about my own life. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good read, but this book is not just about a good read, it talks about a man Pastor Paul Hallam from where he came from his notorious life to leading a vibrant Church called the Lighthouse, twentyeight years in twentyeight chapters. A must read book it will change your life.

Great read about folowing your dreams and no turning back for all walks of life.
Brilliant to read how God uses real people to change the lives of others. Well written and painfully honest in some places but that is life. Real life story of how an extra ordinary God can changes the lifes of so many children and with all the proceeds going towards supporting these children there is no reason why you shouldnt consider buying a few copies and share it with your non Christian friends.

A roller coaster ride that must not be missed..
I am well known for not finishing a book, but I could not put my Kindle down, The 'Rubicon' shows that from from small beginnings, great things can happen, Life transforming love in every action, miracles like in the book of Acts in the Bible, adventures in other Nations that Have seen Children not only given hope, but also a home, with purpose and vision. Whilst evangelizing, seeing new and existing churches prosper, and supporting this work with Biblical training. I went through every emotion reading this book, The Rubicon does not hide the raw emotion, the times of disappointment and grief, or the impact of unexpected change and the times of Joy and excitement; even the faith needed while waiting for God to open new doors. I knew Paul over 30 years ago but sadly lost touch, It is truly wonderful to see so many lives change, and so much work done, all to Gods glory, and shows that if we trust God, anything is possible! I highly recommend this book, whether you are a Pastor, a mechanic or someone who believes God is calling them to higher things..

'If you only buy one Christian book this year, get this one'
This book cannot be praised enough I started reading Sunday and finished it Monday it is 'unputadownable'! It is written in plain jargon free English and should be in every Christian home where it will either encourage, uplift or buttkick, it's a book I would be happy to pass to anyone to read as it shows what God can do through an individual/group who is/are willing to listen even when it means going out on a limb. This has been my best read in many, many years and even better to know that the money goes towards the amazing work that is going on with the poor, needy and underprivileged children in India, Romania ,UK and shows largely that the daily red tape of bureaucracy can be overcome by prayer at least !!!!

A challenging read from start to finish-Brilliant!
'The Rubicon' is a must read for anyone who is serious about building the Kingdom of God!I loved it! - Why? Because it is honest, it is sincere, it is raw, and it's so inspiring! Paul and Mags Hallam are genuine kingdom builder's, who have already achieved so much in their ministry, some people 'talk it' other people 'talk it' and 'walk it'. Paul pulls no punches in calling a 'spade and spade' but not out of a heart that is mean or vindictive but out of a heart of genuine love for God and people. The journey that this book takes you on is a ride of wisdom, faith, courage, passion and a real conviction to do whatever it takes no matter what the cost financially or personally to help change other people's lives for the better and give the Glory to God! Read it and be prepared to be challenged!

Authentic, tight and right
After reading The Rubicon, the lucid words of Theodore Roosevelt reverberated loudly: "[f]ar better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat". Pastor Paul has excellently demonstrated that no noble endeavour for the Kingdom is without opposition and difficulty. Indeed, whom God would use greatly He will hurt deeply through moulding and training, “[a]nd that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,” Rom 9:23 KJVBy his enviable customary phlegm, Pastor Paul undertook the daunting task of writing the book solely as evidenced in the raw, un-sanitised and indisputable accounts which bear the unmistakable signature of a master craftsman's lead - God himself. How he's managed to accomplish so much in the UK and overseas within such a short period of time on often a shoestring budget is a reminder to us all that the God of miracles is truly at work in his church. What a pleasure for anyone to belong to a selfless generous community of believers! This is a book that will surely rattle the old regulars and dare the rookies in faith. It will powerfully remind both of them that history diminishes the effect of the critic and wisdom is justified of all her children.
