Yes they have a very light illumination when on the base, but there is are display when off the base on standby. The dull is barely visable in the dark.

Ample answer is yes. These phones use both DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) and GAP (Generic Access Profile) standards meaning the are fully compatible with other DECT for Gigaset or othe manufacturers.

Q: how many ringtones does it have?

I think you can set the number of ringtones, but I am not sure the maximum number.... Ringtones can be deactivated.
