These are too big for a washing machine discharge hose. I had to cut one in half tape it to the hose and use another one to go over the hose with the other seal on it. If your house drain pipe is 1 1/2" then this method will work. If your house drain pipe is 2" then it will be a little loose so be careful not to push it in too far because the seal is not very rigid and so it slides down the 2" pipe to where you can't get it back out. I used 2 for a 2" pipe and 2 for a 1 1/2" pipe and they both keep the smell down pretty well but one seal will not do the trick.

This item has successfully saved me a deductible from my home warranty company and who knows what other costs! I knew that the washing machine hose opening was spouting water when the cycle drained. This of course could result in costly damage in our basement if not corrected. This item sealed the area after a little maneuvering and got the job done! Excellent product!!!

The hose on my Kenmore washer is too small, for the inner hole. The last picture in the description shows a hose support/anchor. This device cannot seal with such a hose support. I'm using this device anyway with large globs of RTV glue.

Smelly floor drain but can't plug it because of the hose from the laundry washer? Yeah, me too. Then I bought these. PERFECT! Blocks the smell and still drains the water. Cheapest plumbing fix you'll find. Flexible too, so you can squeeze it to adjust the fit a bit. Not sure I needed four, though...
