High Quality Spigot
I bought this item used through Amazon and was very impressed with the quality of the spigot. Our dogs decided they wanted to chew the original plastic spigot that's on our rain barrels which is why I was looking for something that's sturdy and they won't like to chew.

Make your own water barrel or pet waterer! ---
You can use this to make your own rain barrel out of a plastic garbage can! Much cheaper than the ready-made rain barrels, which cost $100 and more. One advantage of using a plastic garbage can with cover is you can completely open up the top to clean it out. Some rain barrels do not allow you to do this; the top only partially opens.I used this to attach to an automatic pet waterer.

This is just okay, but make sure you want a male connection and not need a female connection.
This is a male end and I needed a female end. Therefore, this was a waste of money for me. I ended up giving it to a friend that does a lot of house repairs. I had to reorder a female end from another company.

It works
I used this spigot on a large trashcan in order to fashion my own rain barrel. It worked really well at first, and then leaked a very small amount after awhile. I don't think that the gasket will ultimately hold up to the elements. It would have been nice if the company included some replacement rubber gaskets. That would make this a real long term product.

tightened it down hard and applied some aquarium sealant to the wet side and it works like a charm
Used it to turn a regular plastic trash barrel into a rain barrel. Drilled a hole, inserted this, tightened it down hard and applied some aquarium sealant to the wet side and it works like a charm. Valve is all-metal, smooth and doesn't leak even a little bit.

Perfectly good for certain applications after modifications
Purchased this type of barrel faucet to replace flimsy plastic ones already installed. As others have noted, it has a very small opening at the valve which is more suitable for a pressurized water supply. Nevertheless, I have my barrels hooked up in a series and the restricted flow doesn't matter when using eight barrels.I was intrigued by the comment a few had made that rust appeared either coming out of the tap when first turned on or at the bottom of the barrel inside near the faucet. Others wrote that the valve washer came off within a year of use. That told me there was something made of steel and it was likely the screw holding down the valve washer. This is typical of anything made in China where something appearing to be made of quality material has some cheaped out component that shortens its life.I disassembled the valve as in the photo, removed the screw and held a magnet to it - instant attraction. Sure enough, the screw was plain steel and thus very rust-prone. I bought replacement stainless steel screws (metric) at the local hardware store, reassembled the faucet and left it in water. No rust appeared. To solve the problem of water leaking around the faucet at the barrel, I purchased extra ring gaskets so I had a gasket on both the inner and outer surface of the barrels. Once installed in this manner, I had no problems with leaks where the faucet goes through the barrel. The valves work fine on my water barrels and will give me years of reliable use.I recommend this faucet to anyone for whom the restricted water flow is not a consideration, that replaces the faucet washer screw with a brass or stainless steel one and adds ring washers.

I, for one, regret this purchase.
Dislike the extremely small & restricted port opening size. Would not recommend for any type of rain barrel that requires good flow for watering unless one only is looking for a slow, low flow, gravity drain. Unfortunately I waited too long & cannot return it.

Good price for what it does
As some other reviews mentioned:1. It's quite "low flow" (which wasn't a huge issue for me)2. The screw inside is likely to rust, so I replaced it before even installing it.I bought the spigot knowing those two things going in - and I'm happy with the purchase. It does what I need it to do and was at a good price.

Works great. Easy to install.
Drilled one 3/4” hole and screwed fitting into plastic rain barrel. Then tighten nut to the inside of barrel. Easy as ever. Note: need to drill larger hole if install into metal tank. Great quality and price. I recommend.

DIY rain barrel
The flow is really low. And not the entire spout is made of copper. There's a screw inside, that is made of metal, that will eventually rust if exposed to water for long period of time.
