Sabaj PHA1 Portable Audio Headphone Amplifier RCA Jack Silver

I could not find reviews on this item except for one in Youtube. However that review is completely opposite from mine. Maybe my unit has been improved or his unit was defective. This headphone amplifier is just what I needed for my desktop setup. I like the fact that the input is in the back and not in the front giving my setup a clean look plus it is tiny, fits in my hand. The rear has two sets of RCA plugs, input (from FX Audio Tube-01 with GE matched tubes) and output (to SMSL SA-50 Plus). The amp works independently from the main amp even if the main amp is powered off and vise versa. It also has 2 outputs 6.35mm and 3.5mm headphone jacks in front. It comes with a micro usb to usb plug, no power brick included. But I use an iPad 2.1 amp power supply for it. The volume knob turns buttery smooth as well as the power button. I am using a Audio Technica AT-M40X plugged into my laptop with a usb sound card with this amp which really isn't that hard to power up. But having the ability to control the volume independently from my main amp is what I like. It is quite powerful for the M40X. Turning the volume to 12:00 (halfway) can be damaging to my ears. At 10:00 the volume is loud but pleasant enough to listen to without causing ear damage. Wished this was available in black to match my other gadgets. I don't know how durable this headphone amp is but at the moment it is quiet, no hisses or buzzes and for the price it is a good deal. I'll update this review after extensive use.

Nifty looking piece of kit which certainly does what the advertising says. However, my ears reacted badly with high pitched whistling after use. Refund arranged satisfactorily.

Ottimo ampli per cuffie. A livello costruttivo è un gioiellino. Design lineare e semplice come quello dei grandi prodotti he-end. Tutto in metallo con assemblaggio preciso finiture curate. Lo si può usare sia con cuffie 3,5 mm o 6,2 mm senza bisogno di adattatori poiché dotato di entrambe le porte. La manopola del volume è precisa e comoda. All'ascolto con file iTunes AAC e cuffie Sennheiser HD 598SR si è dimostrato un aiuto fondamentale regalando una gamma di suoni piena e corposa nonostante l'impedenza di 50 ohm delle cuffie. La differenza tra l'ascolto diretto da dispositivo si sente eccome. Provando con il primo brano dell'album Into the Labyrinth dei Dead can Dance (Yulunga) ai minuti 2:05 - 2:30 - 2:53 si scopre qualcosa di assolutamente diverso con o senza il Sabaj. Proseguendo poi è tutto uno spettacolo. Ritengo il prodotto ottimo per rapporto qualità prezzo e come entry level nel settore.
