Barely There Liners: a Novella
Have you ever been driving yourself nuts trying to find the best possible piece of whatever protective material to slap onto your undies, only to be further confused by seriously conflicting reviews? Well, I have, and on top of years of trial and error, I have many thoughts. I’ve used these liners for a long time and they’re the ones that have worked best for me. If you like thorough reviews and don’t mind reading long ones, here are my thoughts: Main point is, for what they are, they work very well! The first thing to note is that these are exactly what they are advertised as: barely there. That’s the selling point. They are the thinnest and probably smallest you’ll be able to find. Of course, that’s not the right fit for everyone, but that doesn’t render the product useless. With regard to size / coverage, these will work best with undies that have a bit of a narrow crotch area / gusset. For me, that’s exactly what I needed. Most of my undies do not have a wide enough crotch to accommodate larger liners, let alone pads. They are also short, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on the style of underwear. There is a slight curvature, so they’re a bit wider up front and in back which helps a bit for proper placement. I’m pretty sure there is a thong version, but these can be used with thongs by just tucking the adhesive in the back around like wings. They tend to stick better to cotton than synthetic materials, in my experience. I think that’s probably true of almost any pad or liner, though. If your priority is max absorbency, this is not the product for you. Yes, everyone here stating that the absorbency isn’t amazing and the center panel is small are correct. But, for better or worse, that’s the design. They’re supposed be as unobtrusive as possible while offering just enough protection for LIGHT purposes. With that in mind, I have found that (for spotting or cup / tampon backup, which are my uses for this product), I’ve very rarely had issues with leakage. To be fair, I don’t typically bleed heavily. I also can’t speak for those who use these for bladder leakage or daily discharge. For my purposes, the center panel does its job of pulling fluid from the surface to keep you dry. Even the outer portion which seems to just be adhesive offers a bit of protection for your undies. It’s not going to really absorb, but it can keep light leaks from seeping through for a bit until you can change your liner. I do deal with clots sometimes, and they don’t absorb fully, but I don’t think any external product can. As for the packaging issue a lot of folks seem to be having, if I’m getting this right, they’re not peeling the adhesive backing off. They’re just pulling the whole liner out of the wrapper without peeling it off of the backing. That white piece of wax paper type of stuff needs to be taken off. Yknow, so the adhesive is exposed. Speaking of adhesive! Edge-to-edge, which is what I think confuses people when they try to open them. But it’s also what makes these fantastic. I can’t stand when there’s not enough adhesive and everything bunches up or peels away, slips out of place, you know the deal. The combo of these being so thin and flexible + the edge-to-edge adhesive is what makes them feel “barely there”. If they’re the right fit for you & your undies, once applied, it’s like they’re basically built into your underwear. (Tip: press the liner and fabric together all the way around to make sure it’s fully adhered. Just do so carefully, as the adhesive edges can wrinkle if they’re not smoothed out while you’re applying.) They’re pretty soft, but not the softest ever. That’s okay with me. It’s because they’re so thin and only have that center strip of what would be “cottony”. It’s not scratchy or uncomfortable. There’s no plasticky mesh sitting on top. I will admit they can sometimes feel a bit stiff, but because they move with you and don’t slip, it’s not too bothersome. I have sensitive skin, but have not ever had a reaction to these. I can’t guarantee that for anyone else, though, of course. It sucks that we have all these mystery substances to worry about. I do believe these companies should be held to higher standards, but as things are, I’d just say be aware that it’s a risk with pretty much any pad or liner, and stop usage immediately if you notice irritation. Overall, I’d say these are for you if you’d like something small, discreet, and comfortable to wear, but only if you don’t require heavy-duty protection. It’s all about what makes YOU feel protected and comfortable. And what’s compatible with the size and shape of your preferred underwear. I know it can be frustrating to find that, but maybe there’s somebody out there who can be helped along in that process with this ridiculously long review. There are so many options out there. I feel it’s important to discuss them, even if some feel it’s TMI, because when we do, we can help each other find what works, without simply depending on product labels.

Unparalleled
My Walmart stopped carrying these. For about a half a year, I just held out hope that they’d restock because they’re my go-to. But they didn’t. And they still haven’t. In the meantime, I tried all kinds of different panty liners that had all sorts of problems and shortcomings before finally buying these on Amazon (and set up a subscription) because I couldn’t take it anymore😂. I could go on and on about how confused I am about why there aren’t several brands of good panty liners out there in 2024. But I’ll get into this product instead of doing that!! First, I’ll tell you how I normally use these and then talk about how these perform in that context. I use these panty liners every day because I like having my underwear as dry as it can be throughout the day and prefer how it feels to have insurance. I use them as backup when I’m using tampons. I also use them at the end of my period when things are slowing down. Pros: -Sticks well to underwear. Really well. All kinds of underwear - bikini, thong (just fold over the sides, I prefer these to “thong cut” liners because they stick better), shorts, etc. I mostly wear cotton but these also stick to synthetic materials much better than any others I’ve tried (they slide around, come off, only stick together, crinkle up and pop off…other types are just horrible in this department, even with cotton). -Are SO THIN but also SO ABSORBENT. I don’t get it. They can hold a lot of moisture without being bulky. You forget they’re there. Other brands turn into a sad wet tissue and it sucks. -They stick well even when it’s been a warmer day and I’m more prone to sweating. Others don’t and just give up on staying put. -This one blows my mind. When other panty liners finally leak through to your underwear, these just straight up don’t. There’s some kind of coating on the sticky side that keeps anything from going through. I’ve had many “oh no” moments before (usually when traveling) where I couldn’t get to a bathroom and change things out as soon as I had wanted to. These liners held up when I thought I had ruined my underwear, where other brands leaked through and actually did ruin it. -These come on a backing that is SUPER easy to peel off of. -Unopened, these are thin, compact, and easy to slip into my purse, wallet, pocket, etc. Best believe I take them everywhere. Cons: -Some people may really desire a “long” version of these. And I don’t know if this brand has a long version of this super thin liner yet. Something for the company to consider if they see this! Basically not a con on this product but a future thought for more potential business. I love these so much and I hope they’re never discontinued. I always recommend these to save people from mediocre panty liners and love keeping them in my guest bathroom/giving them to my friends in a pinch, etc. I’m a huge fan. Can’t believe I’m not sponsored 😂😂

Perfect Everyday Liners — Comfortable, Reliable, and Discreet
The U by Kotex Balance Daily Panty Liners are exactly what I want in an everyday liner. They’re soft, breathable, and stay in place without bunching or shifting. The absorbency is just right for daily freshness, and they never feel bulky or irritating. I also appreciate that they’re unscented — no weird fragrances, just clean comfort. They’re thin enough to forget about but reliable enough to trust. Great for work, long days, or just keeping things feeling fresh. I’ll definitely keep these stocked.

These are unscented which is awesome (I really don't need down there to smell like ...
I've used pantyliner for years, and from what I remember, I've been using specifically Kotex brand pantyliners before they got rebranded to the U by Kotex name. Since the rebranding though, whereas in the past I may stray and just buy whatever's cheap and available, now I exclusively go by these. These are unscented which is awesome (I really don't need down there to smell like heavy florals...seriously). They are also very thin, sticks well, and feels insanely comfortable. I usually can't tell they're there. Maybe I use these differently than others, but some of the reviews sound like they're expecting for something that these are not made to do? These actually work pretty well even for light spotting - but that's LIGHT spotting. it's really not for when you're on your period or even at the end when you may get a lot of discharge still. A few times I switched back to these too soon - they actually still kept my undies clean and I've never had any discharge or spotting seep through to my underwear. they also stick well, but not overly sticky and difficult to pull off. They also do not bunch up, which I highly appreciate as I've used pantyliners in the past that have no stick on the edges, and not even an hour later is so bunched up that it's protecting nothing. these have an even thin coat of stickiness along the entire bottom (with exception to a sliver of the edge) so definitely works much better. HOWEVER they are not heavy duty adhesive, and I noticed that they do not stick well to some material. Certain panties from VS that are made with knit material, or super stretchy shiny/slippery polyester, these do not stick to. I don't particularly mind since I hate underwear with those kind of material anyway, but I guess stay away from this pantyliner if you exclusively wear those kinds of undies. I actually wear these every day, regardless if i'm spotting or near my period or not. I find they make me feel much cleaner, and overall keep me and my undies hygienic. on really long days where I have still many hrs before I can go home and shower, I can just change pantyliner when I start to feel gross, and then i'm back to feeling fresh again lol. I love love love these and cannot recommend them enough, but again beware that these are not for when you're on your period!

Shipping envelopes suck. Please use box.
Product is great. The packaging sucks. This product was put in a shipping envelope and by the time it arrived it was smashed and all of the product was loose in the envelope, box was destroyed. Please use a shipping box instead of an envelope. This happens all the time with shipping envelopes. 😢

Comfortable for daily use, but not very absorbent
I have been using these panty liners for a few weeks, and overall they are pretty good. They are thin, soft, and comfortable enough to wear all day without feeling bulky. The adhesive holds well and keeps them in place most of the time. On the downside, they are not very absorbent, so they work best for light days only. I also noticed that the edges can curl after several hours. The packaging is simple, and the price is reasonable. I would repurchase them for daily freshness, but not for heavier needs or long days out away from home comfortably.

VERY thin and versatile!
I use them on several types of underwear, including briefs, boyshorts and thongs. They absorb quite a bit for how thin they are. I use them for spotting, light days, or after sex. They are comfortable enough to wear that I might wear one when I think I might start my period or when I am ovulating. I love that they are individually wrapped and I can just throw a couple in my purse or travel bag.
