Dangerous to shoot.
Bought this bow on May 15th, 2018 and the bottom limb delaminated and broke on July 4th, 2018. Fortunately I was wearing polarized safety glasses or it would have put the arrow nock into my eye. (I shoot a 3 under fixed crawl). Sad thing, this was an incredibly accurate shooting bow. Always used a stringer to string and release.

Excellent feel and quality, ergonomic version of Samick Sage
Just received this today, took it out and tried it. First, I have a Samick Sage (who doesn’t?) and love it! This bow shoots as well and equal to my Sage. One is not better than the other in shooting. However, this bow is lighter and a bit less bulky. Also one gripe I had w the Sage, is that the handle for my hand that holds the riser was always a bit too big for me. However, the Spyder fits perfect like a glove. For this reason alone, I wanted to try the Spyder as I have smaller hands. If I’m buying driving gloves I usually would wear a medium or a large. XL gloves never work for me. Sometimes Large can be too big. As for the bow being lighter and more handy I really like that. I’m a 5’9” 195 lbs body builder, so not like the Sage was heavy to me, it is just the Spyder feels like a feather in comparison. As for finish, I think the Spyder is a bit more pretty, edges more rounded and refined. One quality issue, the limbs do not fit in the riser w the same super tight tolerances as the Sage. They are a tad loose n sloppy, but they do definitely tighten down once the screws are tightened. I just wonder if slightly looser tolerances over time will matter? Maybe not, as the bow shoots great. My only knock against the Spyder and it is a HUGE negative, it is made in the PRC!!! Maybe why the limb sloppiness? I had thought it would be built in South Korea or maybe the USA? But I am not sure a lot of archers and bow hunters are going to like the “made in China” stamp? Maybe won’t bother some. But, all in all great bow. Request to SAS, please move production from China! I would have paid $25-60 more just to avoid it being a PRC product. To be honest, if I would have known it was PRC made in advance of puchase, I probably would have passed on buying it. But now that I have, I do love it more than my Sage! So......your call. I do rate this bow a 5 despite it being made where it is.

Perfect for beginners. Cathartic. Better than yoga.
Where do I even start with this bow? My first observation upon receiving this bow wasn't just how beautiful it was, but also how nicely it was packaged. I had it assembled out of the box within only a few short minutes. I bought the 40lb limbs with the bow-stringer add on and it's absolutely worth it. After I took a few beginning shots, my wife asked if she could shoot it. To my surprise the 40lb draw wasn't too much for her at all, and her aim was impeccable. Usually I'm not so surprised by her accuracy seeing that we both served in the Marine Corps, and spent our finer moments shooting; however this was her first time shooting a bow an arrow and she was killer as usual. Amazing bow. Great quality; I couldn't be happier knowing that the two of us have a hobby together. Thank you Southwest Archery.

Excellent Recurve Bow - easy to use, beautiful woodwork, quality throughout. Not just for Beginners!!!
Spyder Takedown Recurve Bow and arrow by Southwest Archery USA | weights 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 lb | LEFT or RIGHT HANDED Archery Kit | Designed by Engineers of the Samick Sage | 60 lb LEFT - I have had my bow (a Southwest Archery 62” Spyder w/ 60lb and 35lb limbs) for a month now and it has been an absolute joy shooting it! It is sooo much fun and very relaxing (I have a somewhat stressful job and shooting my bow is therapeutic). - Even with the light-weight bow limbs (35lbs) my arrows fly so fast! I am a bit of a larger sized guy (years of weight lifting) so the 35lb limbs seem like a child’s toy - it most certainly is not!!! I was advised by experienced archers to get the 35lb limbs so I can perfect my “shooting form” and I think that was the right decision. - With the 60lb limbs the arrows fly absolutely blazingly fast! Incidentally, I do use different arrows for the 60lb limbs than for the 35lb limbs. - My actual draw length is 29 ¾” so technically (according to Southwest Archery’s recommendations) the 64” Spyder should be better for me.However, even though I am about at the limit for the draw length of my 62” Spyder and where other recurve bows begin “stacking” my bow remains soooo smooth all the way to my anchor point. - I LOVE my Southwest Archery Spyder!!! (BTW - I am not paid for my review – the bow really is this good – it’s a great bargain even though $149 isn’t chicken scratch).

Pleased and impressed
I have been shooting taditional for 12 years now. I have always had a longbows. I decided to try a recurve but didn't want to pay big bucks for it. I order this bow and could not be happierFirst impression:The riser is beautfuly made. The colors look great and the red accent makes it that much better. The limbs are made in China which I should have expected but appear to be made very well. The wood on the limbs are a lighter color but not too light that it doesn't look good with riser or that I would feel uncomfortable hunting with. The arrow rest that comes with did not suit my fancy so I replaced it with another. However it would have worked fine I'm sure.Assembly:Took less than 5 minutes to assemble and set the brace height. The stringer is a little sketchy on the top limb part. If the string isn't as tight as you can make the string slips off the rubber when you go to string the bow. Also when string the bow the bow string was slightly frayed on the bottom portion.Shooting:I got the 60# to match my 60# long bow in hopes that i could use the same spined arrows. It went off without a hitch! The bow is remarkably silent. No long "bong" sound or slap of the string on the limbs. I added bever balls and now all I hear is a swish of the string cutting the air. The bow is very consistent with the arrows I use for my longbow.Overall summary:Very pleased! Simple yet elagent. Love at first group. My only wish was that the string was frayed out of the box. And it came with a koozie!
