I bought the RGB video conference lights to be lightweight, portable conference call lights. I already have several large studio lights, but I needed something smaller and lighter that I could toss into my work bag and setup at a moment’s notice when I need to work remotely and have the video on.My work brings me into the office most days, but still most meetings are remote conference or video calls. I’ve learned from my video creation work that lighting is 90% of the battle with making a good image and good impression and there are many aspects to these lights that fit the bill well. I have a window directly behind me in my office and I looked dark and backlit relative to the window before having these lights and now, it looks much more balanced and I appear brighter.To start with, the construction is much smaller and lighter than my bulky studio lights. The lightweight nature makes them easy to travel with. I gave one light to my mother-in-law and she packed it in her suitcase for her remote conferences. The included stand is a good height for tabletop during a conference call and the USB power is convenient since I can plug the lights right into my laptop. I love that because I don’t want to deal with a rat’s nest of cables trying to get to a wall outlet when I’m on the go.The controller is in-line on the cable and is easy to use. There are two wheels to control brightness and color temperature respectively, a power button, a button to toggle between white and RBG, and an “RGB” button that rotates through the available colors and effects. I was surprised that the motion effect were included as well as a “rainbow mode” that is a fun effect. I don’t really need those for my meetings, but I like the ability to control the color temperature of white to balance warmer/cooler (2600k-6000k) with the other lights in my room.I didn’t see a CRI rating listed, but I have purchased 3 other Viltrox lights and they have CRIs of 95+ or 97+, so I speculate the quality here is similar. To my eyes, the whites are pleasing. As I mentioned, the whites are great for my video conferences, but I could also see using the RGB in my studio as interesting practical lights or accent lights.These lights are cooled passively and there is no fan noise.They are plenty bright since the nature of a video conference keeps me, the subject, pretty close to the light on the tabletop and the camera. I didn’t see a lux rating and I don’t have the tools to measure that myself, but I can say that it looks good on camera. The panel design spreads out the light fairly evenly and doesn’t seem to cast too harsh of shadows. It looks steady on video and doesn’t flicker/strobe.I’ve purchased quite a few lights in the last few months as I’ve been outfitting my studio. While this pair is more useful for travel and video conferencing, it still filled a void in my needs. I’m impressed with the brightness these lights put out - especially for the money. To get two lights and two tabletop stands for $60 is a bargain. In summary, I really appreciate the brightness, portability, and light-weight nature of this light set. They’re a great light for the money, and I recommend them!

When I started in photography, photographic lights were big, hot, and expensive. And so as a student I was often forced to try and figure out proper lighting with one light and a makeshift reflector, or other kinds of hacks, and even then getting the position and color exactly right (which required gels and other kinds of filters) was time consuming and often hit and miss.Enter the brave new world of hight quality, broad spectrum, bright, adjustable, USB powered photography/videography lights! I saw this kit and thought, for less than $50 including two fully adjustable RGB lights and tripods, I didn't have much to lose. Boy was that an understatement.This kit includes a couple of nice lights that can output either white light across an adjustable range of color temperatures and illumination levels, or switched to an RGB mode, you get creative control of color and a number of moving light patterns (useful for video). You also get two good stands that, while fairly light an inexpensive looking, are stable and solid and provide a wide range of adjustments.The process of shooting the small hedgehog toy sitting on his throne of coloured bricks brought me back to the earliest days of learning about photographic lighting and how to enhance or eliminate shadows, create tension, pull focus, etc. (And I realize I've forgotten much and need to pull out some of my lighting books and give myself a quick refresher.)I've only just began to explore all the ways I may use these lights, and expect they'll make an appearance in more and more of my projects.Two small notes: (1) I wish the kit came with some kind of soft case. These pieces are kind of 'floppy' with cables and the like and the two tripods while small don't really do well when they have to live in a thin cardboard box. I'm sure there's a soft zipper bag or 2 here on Amazon, but it would be nice to have something included. and (2) I did notice that when powering both lights from the same USB battery brick, adjusting the color and brightness on one light would have an impact on the other! This only happened with one of my battery packs, and wasn't reproduced with another, so perhaps this is related to power requirements or some shielding between the USB ports on that pack, but consider that the lights may be far enough apart that using one pack is not a likely scenario.Conclusion: Highly Recommended especially for those wanting to learn about all the ways you can enhance your photography and videography with creative lighting.
