Q: Is this the same low quality material as the Tetra Pond hose?

This hose is made from high quality, virgin PVC that is phthalate and BPA free. It is also 100% American made, unlike many competing products. Thanks! Jennifer

I don’t see why not, it’s pretty heavy. We use it in our koi pond. May be a little stiff. Worth a try.

Q: What size coupler would attach this to straight pvc pipe. What's the o.d.?

I would suggest using it internally vs. O.D. if you use a PVC 1 1/4" O.D. it will slip inside the tubing and you'd have a better ability to seal the PVC to the inside of the tubing vs. the reverse. So whatever you PVC end is buy a coupler that ends in 1 1/4" and slip the tubing over the PVC pipe, sealing it with silicone or another sealer of your choice.
