.com In the mid-'90s, Sabah Habas Mustapha, once a member of the legendary group of world music plunderers 3 Mustaphas 3, recorded his dangdut--or Indonesian pop--album. Called Denpasar Moon, the title track became something of an international hit. Jalan Kopo takes him back to Java, specifically to Bandung, to record with local musicians, and the result is every bit as delightful as its predecessor. Of course, since this is a project involving a former Mustapha, humor is inevitably a part of the equation. Nobody's taking it to the fridge, but we do have a pidgin Javanese tribute to the great English comedian, Arthur Askey, here known as Artur Asaki. It's all good fun, and there's also some great dangdut from the Mustapha pen, songs that are wonderful pop, no matter what category you put them into. And, to top it all off, there's even Mustapha with a Javanese orchestra. If this doesn't give you a taste for something slightly more exotic--and maybe something in peanut sauce--then nothing will. --Chris Nickson

Loved it!
I first heard this album's Bandung track on NPR.While the lyrics are in English and the composition is unequivocallycontemporary - it captures this uniquely Indonesian flair thatimmediately made me want to go back to Java. This album will not appeal to everyone (my spouse and kids do not carefor it) but having spent a few magical weeks in Indonesia and secretlylonging to return, I personally love it.

It will blow you away!!
A friend turned me on to this CD. It's one of the best. A hybrid of Indonesia music with dance beats and Grateful Dead-like jams with bamboo flutes, gongs, guitars, kadula-kadulas and who knows what!!These thoughts come to mind.......Upbeat, Bouncy, reflective, innovative, worldy, a throughly enjoyable experience!!!Get it!!!

Another Mysterious Track
With the sounds of a mixture of turkey to the middle east emminating from this track it almost makes you feel as if you are there. This track is used at Epcot at Walt Disney World in florida as part of the firework pre show while guests are gathering alongside the show area, and adds a real air of the exotic to preceedings. Downloaded from amazon on mp3 which was quick use and download track.
