Never met my great Uncle but pleased to see his stories are still available. This collection is a gift to my grandson. I had other personal favorites growing up! Great stories for young readers.

My 8 year old is a HUGE Jim Kjelgaard fan and after only finding a couple books at our local library we decided to get this for him for Christmas. He was beyond excited! I think all but 1 were new titles for him. This gave him hours of material to read. He did skip a couple stories that didn't seem as interesting for him, but I am sure he will get back to them. I can't even tell you how many books of his he has read at this point. They are very detailed which makes for a little harder of a read, but you look at dogs/nature in a whole new light after reading these books. Mr. Kjelgaard does such a wonderful job of painting pictures in your mind.

I loved his books as a child, and now my daughter loves them as well. I've recently read a few of his older books that I missed as a kid, and even as an adult, the stories still draw me in.

Pleasure

The works themselves are great, but the book is very large. It is so large that the binding seems to be at risk. Because of this I will not be allowing children to read from it. However, they do sit attentively and listen to it being read!
