Terrible Version of this book
First of all I know it says abridged so perhaps it was my fault for ordering it. But its how they abridged this version that is so terrible. They literally want to remove any miracle or reference to god from this volume. The front page even says "This work of its time and place and may include valuee, images and language that are offensive to modern sensibilities". I do not know how it could be offensive they have literally removed anything modern readers would find offensive. If there was to be a abridgement of the text then you need to hold the original meaning of the author. Example: He tells a story in the original text of a ship that is forced to leave england with only the men of the company on board. The men on the ship are crying as they leave. The ship nearly sinks in a storm but as its going down a prayer is given and the puritians on board cry out to god. to save them. He reports the storm is calmed. and they reach their destination. This book simply removes the story. it says they sailed the end. Terrible Abridgement , If you believe god saved them or it was random. The point is HE BELIEVED IT AND THAT IS WHAT HE WROTE!

IT IS ABRIDGED AND MODERNIZED
I returned this book the second I read the "Trigger" warning on the first page. I wish they had trigger warnings in front every modern movie and TV show. They are way more offensive to my values than anything written 400 years ago. Can we just grow up and learn from history instead of trashing it?

okay if you want a bland view of history
This book leaves out the best details about the Plymouth plantation. It leaves out the incredibly miserable conditions the people were living through and the disgusting conditions they lived through in order to arrive at the shores of our nation. It's okay if you want a bland overview of what happened and really don't want to know the details of how amazing the people were who settled this nation.

Good book but beware of spelling and grammar errors.
Only giving 4 stars because this version has some editing errors. Several spelling and grammar errors just in the introduction alone. Haven’t gotten far in to see how many more but having my child read this for our history lessons and it’s frustrating to have to pre read and correct errors so they can read it and be able to understand what is being said.Other than that it is a great book to use to understand the times and history of the pilgrims.

family history
Governor Bradford is my 13th generation grandfather and it was so great and enlightening to read his words from 1620. I will be able to pass this book with his words on to my grandchildren.
