Undaunted: Stalingrad

Undaunted: Stalingrad is similar to other games in the series as far as gameplay goes. Sure, there are some good new mechanics, but if you have played Undaunted: Normandy you will have a general idea of what the battles will feel like and how they will play. What really sets Stalingrad apart is not what happens on the board during battles, but what happens BETWEEN the battles. Each mission is prefaced by a short story, and what happens during the game affects the way the story progresses as well as having effects on which special units may unlock. Taking a bunch of casualties means your favorite soldier may be maimed and unable to use certain actions, or his range reduced. Players are forced to confront the concept of Pyrrhic victory; maybe it's not worth it to win a single mission if it means your upgraded veteran sniper may lose an eye.All of this gives the game a sense of persistence, which keeps me thinking about what the next mission might be all day long. Will I get a chance to recapture the town square I lost, now that I've harassed the enemy platoon occupying it? I can't wait to find out!If you thought any of the previous Undaunted games were good, and you're wondering if this one is worth the price, the answer is absolutely! My only concern with this game is that it has ruined all of the other Undaunted games for me, because it's that good.

We bought this for my 20 year old nephew. It has so much variation and replay ability that is often missing in games. It looks intense upon the initial opening, but was fairly easy to learn.

This game, for me at least, is very unique. I love the campaign aspect to it which adds another level of thought since your choices may affect future games as well. The game is so well thought out. I love how tiles are changed out permanently when structures are damaged or destroyed. The theming is great, and I actually look forward to playing the next round every time.

2 player game where you battle each other. The game continues to get harder with different objectives after each round. Very fun!

Great two player game, well packaged, fun story

I got the game. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the shipping box was that it wasn't wrapped unlike the other Undaunted games I got. Upon opening, to my horror, all the tokens and cards were punched from their cardboard and wrappers. Fortunately, I counted every token, card and tile and it was all there. Spoke to Amazon customer service and they gave me a rebate for the game. So since the game didn't have anything missing, am OK to keep it.The game box is heavy and there are a lot of cards and tokens. Haven't played it yet but am looking forward to playing all 15 bloody scenarios with a friend.

Best WW2 board game!

Fun stuff. Playing a campaign with my wife. Some scenarios are super un balanced and she is a sore loser. So my only complaint is that I have been yelled at and called names lol
