repressed hero, emotional righteous heroine
The author uses the weather to create and mirror the bigotry and ignorance of the males of the time period to accept intelligence in woman. The fog in the streets was the fog of minds. The heroines of this story are fighting for their right to learn and be accepted as intelligent beings. Letty is emotionally scarred by an event that she willing participated in 6 years ago. She has hardened her heart and focused her attention on her work. Lord William Greycliff had seizures as a child but has not experienced any in about 15 years. He believes he controls his fits by not having strong emotions. He controls all aspects of his life. Like the heroines he is intelligent, kind, and thoughtful. The story revolves around the growing awareness Grey and Letty have of each other’s true nature and how they deal with the intrusion of the world around them. This is a thinkers story. The secondary characters are used to flush out the heroes and heroines true nature and feelings. The ending was way too abrupt. It started sweet and then just ended. It needed more closure. I’d read the next book just to find out about Grey and Letty and what happened to them. There was no closure about the Department or if Grey became the Director. The book just ended. What happened to the story’s villain? Lots of unanswered questions.

an enjoyable Victorian romance
This is the second book in this series of a secret club for women scientists. Letty is a mathematician, the daughter of a wealthy merchant who is excellent at being bristly. Grey is an aristocrat, a member of a powerful group of men and keeps all emotions under lock and key. They are thrown together temporarily to manage the club at a time when there’s a movement against women doing more than being wives and mothers. The various colorful characters and romance was enjoyable (Sam is my favorite brother). The story line was a bit scattered at times and heavy handed but overall a good read.

And we will live happily ever after.
SpoilersAnd we will live happily ever after. An abrupt ending. Few threads tied up. I was looking for more and asking myself if that was it. We could have at least had an epilogue. The sneak peak of book 3 did give a few hints. Nothing ruins a book for me more than a bad or inadequate ending.

Interesting historical
I am enjoying The Secret Scientists of London series very much. A Perfect Equation is funny, thoughtful, sexy, and romantic. The gross inequities of Victorian English society as regards to women especially are well demonstrated, but the book never veers into a dour or downbeat tone.Something that I greatly appreciate is that while we get the HEA, not everything is magically made better. The resolutions of the various plot lines make sense and are more organic to the book and series. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Very Sweet
It’s a very sweet book. It’s also pretty spicy! Some parts of the plot seem a little convoluted, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

What fun!
>Book Review – A Perfect Equation >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Secret Scientists of London series and ends in an HEA. Letty is from a wealthy family. She was seduced, lied to and ruined, forever to be shunned from the TON. I thought it was horrid how her entire family, including her sisters’ prospects, were negatively affected by Letty’s seduction. The male seducer was not even mentioned by the TON as having done anything wrong. Letty is also a female mathematician. She is a member of Athena’s Retreat. Viscount Greycliff, Grey, is protecting the retreat and the women within, when he falls for Letty. >Grey’s backstory is quite sad. He suffered from childhood seizures. His father treated him less than a human due to what was considered a huge flaw. Grey eventually outgrew the seizures, but he doesn’t really trust that the seizures are gone. Grey, learning about the womens' experiments, is introduced to a lot of wild scenes involving animals and explosions. Those scenes and their dialogue were so funny. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The protesting men were present in book 1. Those scenes seem to just be copied in book 2. The romance was sweet and there was a bit of danger, but there needed to be more of a threat to Letty, so Grey could be worried and come in and save the day.

Maths & romance
Very interesting read notwithstanding the romance which I felt got lost a bit in the rest of the tale.Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading it and I look forward to reading the next book in the series

A Perfect read 🌻
I cannot fault this book in any way. It was absolutely brilliant and both Letty and Grey were so likeable on many levels. The chemistry between characters was superb, the story intriguing and the writing was perfect. I already want to read it again and there’s only one or two other books that have ever made me want the same. I don’t think my words can do it justice. I highly highly recommend this and I am eagerly awaiting the next in this series!
