desertcart No 1 New Release, No1 Bestseller January 2022. This is a book for enthusiasts not an instruction book, though it does contain many useful tips on threading and maintenance. This book is the extended full paperback version about one of the finest sewing machines ever made, the incomparable Singer 201. For nearly 30 years the model 201 was the Singer Companies flagship domestic sewing machine, even being presented to the British Royal Family. Here for the first time is its detailed history loaded with fascinating facts. Engineer, writer and Master Craftsman, Alex Askaroff has spent a lifetime in the sewing trade. With Eleven No1 New Releases on desertcart Alex has gained a worldwide following, captivating readers for decades. Machinists, fed up with constantly breaking machines and poor quality stitching started to look at older machines. Some stood out from the crowd, the Swiss Bernina, Swedish Husqvarna and German Pfaff machines were there. Professional and hobby machinists also started seeking out these retro beauties. On top of that pile standing proud was the amazing Singer 201. No one had to sell it to the users, it sold itself. It sewed like no other and sung while it did it, creating a perfect stitch. Here for the first time is a closer look at one of the finest sewing machines ever made. Great history!
I have really enjoyed reading the history about the 201k's. I have three and learnt something from the book. Written in Alex's usual style and is easy reading.

Great informative book
Really enjoyed learning about the history and the story telling. Only slight criticism is a little repetitive in places.

Flimsy, but still useful
Didn't like the soft photocopied feel to it, plus plastic binding but the information will be helpful and is a bigger font than the original tiny booklets that came with the machine.

Excellent overview of Singer and the Singer 201 sewing machine.
Arrived quickly, in good shape! This book is a fascinating look at the history and development of one of Singerโs best domestic sewing machines. I read it cover to cover all in one sitting. There is so much interesting info included.

A wealth of knowledge about the 201 vintage Singer Sewing Machine
I bought the Kindle edition as I was anxious to know how to repair my errant 201 sewer - in a hurry. (No engineers in this part of the country). So I am having to learn how to fix it. I surprisingly found this book extremely interesting to read. The author, Alex Askaroff, makes the machine come alive with history, anecdotes and tips for maintaining the machine. Singer has been his life's work. I have learned a lot in my quest to learn how to maintain this Singer and search for the Holy Grail - The Perfect Stitch. Good illustrations too. I highly recommended this book to an owner of a Singer 201, or maybe any vintage sewing machine owner, who wants to know about the history of Singer and how this machine operates.

So pleased to own one of these machines!
Take note this is not a sewing manual for the Singer 201, this I knew as it was clearly stated. This is a book that gives the interesting background from the birth of the 201 till itโs completion, I love being all the wiser.
