Can I charge my Hero 8 Black without removing this side door?

Yes. This aluminum side door features a built-in Type-C charging port, allowing you to charge your Hero 8 Black or transfer data without removing the cover. It’s ideal for continuous shooting, time-lapse, or video recording sessions.

Does it support external microphone connection?

Absolutely. The precise cutout design allows you to connect an external microphone to your Hero 8 Black without taking off the side door—perfect for outdoor recording, vlogging, and live streaming.

Is this battery cover side door waterproof like the original one?

No. This aluminum replacement door is not waterproof. It’s designed for everyday use, charging, and audio connection convenience. For underwater shooting, please use the original waterproof door or a waterproof case.

How secure is the fit? Will it stay firmly attached to the camera?

The upgraded design ensures a snug and secure fit. The flexible metal gasket locks the door firmly in place, while the built-in EVA foam pad helps absorb shock and protect the battery compartment during movement.

What material is it made of, and does it affect camera weight?

It’s made of premium CNC aluminum alloy — lightweight yet durable. The precision-cut frame provides a perfect fit without adding noticeable weight to your camera, ensuring both durability and portability for long-term use.
