This was a fascinating read. Great to have his daughter's perspective on Irving Berlin's life and work. Look forward to reading another biography about this talented man.

This biography of Irving Berlin is by his oldest daughter and it is just wonderful. If you love any of his hundreds of brilliant songs you will love to read about his life as well. His daughter is a gifted writer and she beautifully tells the story of Mr. Berlin's musical and family life. It's extremely entertaining and highly recommended by me!

I loved this book. It was interesting and moving and has led me to many enjoyable movies and wonderful songs.

Well written but a bit slow in spots. I found the book useful in understanding more about Berlin, but definitely should not be your primary source as his biography. I appreciate that Mary Ellin did considerable historical research, often having documents that prior biographers didn't have access to.. Nonetheless, the book is more about the author's own childhood and her perception of her famous father and still well-known mother. It gives a different perspective on Irving Berlin than will be found elsewhere.

I recently saw a one-man play about IB based partly on this book. I was so fascinated that I wanted to read it - and thoroughly enjoyed it. An amazing man, an amazing family, and an awesome legacy of music and musical theater.
