Works EXACTLY as it should. This is NOT a kids toy! It's an ADULT magic prop for a performance. It is a coiled roll of thin strip steel that has a powerful urge to expand. I do not find the edges to be overly sharp, but they CAN cut if the cane is allowed to over expand so the edges are fully exposed. This doesn't happen on its own. This cane is NOT for use as a regular cane and is fragile to bending. It's for SHOW, nothing else. My video shows how to properly work the cane trick. Slightly compress the cane in your hand to release the spring/catch as you hold it all tightly. Then make sure the cane ends don't point towards anyone/anything. You must fully (and BRIEFLY) let go of the cane and then immediately grab it again as it fully expands instantly. Some practice with this will help. When you compress the cane again, untwist it very slightly as you use both hands to loosen/tighten as you compress it. DON'T FORCE the cane to fully compress if it seems to not want to. It won't work properly if the full length of cane isn't very loose for compressing/expanding. Twist/untwist it and you'll get a feel for using this prop.

When I got this item it was already damaged and it would not open at all so please do not think this is a good item and save your money for something better than this $ucking dumb item who ever invited these should be a real shame of them selves and should not be able to make and sell things ever again on online stores. I just wished I would have read the other peoples reviews before purchasing because some of the results of people buying this item is ridiculously dangerous and should not be sold on online. Let this be a warning to parents on thinking about buying this for there child DON’T BUY ever it’s dangerous and useless and not worth your time, effort, energy or money. And if you want to buy it go ahead I can’t stop you from what you buy you do whatcha gotta do and whatcha gotta buy

I haven’t been cut like a lot of people sending reviews because I took decent caution and only handled it with the provided protective gloves, but it does have a learning curve to collapsing it again. you want to start from the top and kinda unwind as you push it back in. The paint comes off really easy just from it rubbing against itself to any serious extent so if you get it in black you might very easily rub the paint off from learning to retract it like I did. So all and all it’s a little flimsy (being completely hollow obviously) and the paint chips easy but it’s fun for what it is. (Edit: you can fix the scratches with sharpie (can’t promise your staff won’t slowly become big ship of Theseus sharpie paint job though))

Well the reviews are true! This thing is a pain in the ass to close back up. Make sure to wear the gloves if you can. Sliced my finger first day. It’s frustrating but once you get it , it’ll be worth it. Wish it was a bit heavier tho, feels like plastic

I am a magician and it works great! It is not an easy trick to perform if you don’t practice it and it is not easy for kids to do. Made of great material and very durable, I have used it for almost 2 years.

It was impossible to close and when we tried to open it I cut my finger and it was bleeding. And then when we let it go, it almost took my eye out!!! Do not buy

The appearance of this product was great the safety not so much since it did have not ease of use. The fit in regards to its length was just fine and it was fun while it worked. The material seemed to be a good quality however it came apart after only having opened it twice, and I never could get it to work right after that.
