No the blue doesn't come off, the clip hold the money very good

Is it waterproof (ok to have in swimming trunks)?

Not sure, never been swimming with it, have washed it and it was okay

is the money clip magnetic or is it firm metal (i think the magnetic clips suck but the firm metal clips hold about 4 or 5 times more)
