Great shoe/ sandal
My son got these for his birthday. He walks up to Seventeen thousand steps a day. His feet were killing him, and he asked for some good sandals. After much debate and searching. We decided to buy this pair. It was a little more than what we had planned on spending but they are worth every penny. He has not complained since we got them. It took a week or 2 break them in. We are so grateful for a wonderful sandal. They also fit perfectly. And my son has a gigantic foot. They look very nice and he's able to wear them to work. I can't speak to durability yet. Because he's only had them for 2 months. But he loves them and that's all that matters. He has had to wear them in the rain and has shown no problem with them afterwards.

Not just for men!
I love this style of shoe and was hoping they made them in women's. However, I went ahead and ordered a pair anyway and I am exceedingly pleased with them. I normally wear a women's size 10 wide because I wear custom orthotics. I used their sizing chart and measured my feet and went with the Men's 8 and 1/2 medium and they fit great. I have high arches and thick ankles. The bottom line is that when I can find a shoe that even comes close to fitting, the top squeezes down on the top of my arch and cuts off blood supply. Not true with these. These have adjustments in every direction. There is an adjustable strap around the back of the heel that I haven't needed yet. There is a removeable insole bed and two extra sets of spacers that come with the shoes, one is 1/6 of an inch and the other 1/8 of an inch. I like thick soles for walking a lot and the soles here are nice and thick and fairly rigid PLUS I can use both sets of spacers that came with the shoe, PLUS a Dr. Scholl's pillow insole PLUS my custom orthotics and still there is room on the top adjustable strap to allow room for my foot. In fact, and this is a nice little plus- I have had surgery in the past for a cyst on that little bump of a bone (I think it is called the talus bone) forward of the ankle on the side of the foot. Miraculously the top of the shoe and the side of the shoe don't come together when I tighten the top strap down, leaving a little gap right where I need it. (See where my finger is pointing in the pictures.) The strap doesn't rub on that part of my foot! I read other reviews saying that the adjustable strap for the top of the foot comes down too far and causes you to trip. I don't have that problem at all. It all fits well in spite of the fact that they are made for men. Also there is a lacing system on top that looks nice and you can tighten the shoe as much as you want. The front of the shoe has the sole coming up over the toe cap to keep from wearing out the front of the shoe as you bump into things and also for traction. There are plenty of airholes in the shoe as well as a sort of "mesh padding" for the body of the shoe so they will be airy in summer. The heel cup is well padded and fits me just fine in spite of all the various spacers and insoles I put in it. In short, if you have high arches or your feet swell up a lot and you like a thick sole for a lot of walking, this is the shoe for you. And oh, I love the color scheme. In fact, there's not much I can find that I don't like.

No more pain!
My husband has Type 2 diabetes. During the summer he works at a golf course. He would come home complaining how much his feet hurt. He could hardly walk. That is when I went on line and found Orthofeet. I read all the reviews from people who had bought these shoes for similar foot complaints. They all expressed how their pain had lessened or completely gone away. My husband is so happy with these shoes. I feel relieved because living with pain is not fun, nor does it put you in a good mood! These shoes are constructed to relieve the pain. My husband is so happy!

Well constructed sandals.
True to size. I like Velcro fasteners for sandal so that’s a plus. They look to be durable and are aesthetically pleasing. I used my own orthotics as the ones included were flimsy. Overall, I’m very happy with them.

Flawed Design
Had the designer spent 10 more minutes on the design or tried to ACTUALLY WEAR the shoe, the design flaws would have been obvious. 1) the side strap which would allow you to adjust the tongue strap is DECORATIVE? (CANNOT BE ADJUSTED) (WTF) 2) the velcro, main strap that holds your foot in the shoe, faces inward. I've worn them for a week now and the strap has slightly curled at the end. Because the strap is now curled facing the other shoe, every third step I take, the strap catches the other shoe and it releases, forcing the wearer to bend down and re-velcro the strap. (Otherwise your shoe will not stay on.) this would not have been a problem if the straps faced outward. 3) IF the TOP OF YOUR FOOT is very thick due to swelling or genetics, this shoe might work. My foot is not "ankle thick," so the strap OVERSHOOTS the velcro connection making the fit not secure. Again, had the design been actually tested out, these problems would have been solved. 4) I've walked 8K steps a day for a week (on summer pavement) and the sole (glue) is already coming off at the toe. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PURCHASE of a half-assed attempt of a shoe, MADE IN CHINA.

Numerous options to customize the fit
I developed chronic Achilles tendonitis in one foot and needed something supportive and comfortable for the summer. These sandals are ingenious, and come with numerous options to customize the fit. The sandal itself has three adjustment/fastening options - elastic cords to tighten the fitting, and two sturdy velcro straps, one across the top and one at the back. However, that's just the start. In addition to the removable orthotic insole, there are two, different sized spacers (1/8" and 1/16") that can be used beneath the insole to make the sandals a little more snug if they're loose. I have one foot slightly larger than the other so I can customize the sandals individually. There's also an arch support insert that goes beneath the orthotic insole, and can be used with or without the spacers. With all these different features, there's just a ton of ways to customize the fit, and they're darned comfortable. Finally, these are a pretty good looking sandal. The leather upper looks good. The rubber base/sole is a little plasticky looking, but should provide good durability.

A surprisingly comfortable pair of sandals. Look good also
In my lifetime, I have had many pairs of sandals. Rarely is a pair really comfortable. Cool and ventilated, yes, but comfortable? Only this pair from Orthofeet. Instant comfort, no break in period. The velcro closure is very secure and quick to apply. Gee, I hope they last forever, but in case they don't I'll be back for another pair.
