Whynter Countertop Ice Maker & Water Dispenser, Silver, IDC-221SC

I am a person who loves ice, weather it's in my sweet tea, water or Dr. Pepper. Unfortunately my city water tastes terrible and my only option is something that can accept bottled water. But, I was dead set on I wanted an ice maker that can dispense as well. This ice maker hits all the marks! Not only does it dispense ice, it also dispenses water! This one can be hooked up to house water, however I can not use that feature because of city water issues. I just add bottled water to it when it needs it. I have had issues which was easily resolved by contacting the company. Mariella with Whynter was an amazing help, answered any questions I had and remedied the situation to my liking. Shout out to her for going above and beyond. Very happy with this purchase.

Unit is horrible. Water Dani says it’s empty and unit shuts off when tank is half full. The unit makes enough ice to fill a pint glass before it if full and shuts off. If ice is not placed in the freezer it just melts does not keep ice frozen

It does exactly what it says it does. What I didn't anticipate is how bad the water would taste. Unfortunately, it recycles the frozen water and when you go to dispense water, it comes out of the bucket of water that's been siting around freezing and unfreezing. You can't get that fresh water taste. Now if you intend to plug this thing in and use throughout the day and drain it at night, this is a great machine. If you intend on continuously using this machine and want clean tasting water, you will be very disappointed. I am returning this product due to poor water quality. Hopefully this review helps someone on the fence about this ice maker/water dispenser.

It works great. My only complaint is the amount of ice that the bin actually holds. 1 1/2 to 2 glasses at the most of ice is all. 2 might be stretching it. But I make ice all the time and store it in the freezer. The direct water supply is great compared to my other ice makers that don't.

Love having a separate ice and water machine. Caution for open floor plans as it makes noise and isn't insulated inside a freezer unit. Frequent cleaning and water exchanges will make this a pleasant experience.

To be honest, I kind of regret buying this icemaker. I love the fact that people don’t have to put their grubby hands inside to get ice, but it doesn’t run constantly. It is on a timer, and you constantly have to change the timer so that it stays on. It also does not store very much ice. If more than two people want ice in their drink, they are sol. I do like the direct waterline, and the dispensing part of the icemaker. I just wish I had researched better and longer.

I have had this unit for a a couple of months now. It was easy to set up and produces ice quickly. I like the 2 sizes for ice. Easy to clean and has been trouble free. Have recommended to friends.

I liked the dispenser buttons for water and ice. The install w/water line went well. It makes ice quickly. I did not like the bullet ice - both sizes melt too quickly. The ice maker is louder than our dishwasher. The ice bin only holds one large glass worth, so people had to wait at times. Oh yeah, I was surprised during install that this unit doesn't refrigerate the ice! The instructions mention it melts back into the water reservoir...fast forward a few months and we found mold! lots of it right after the return window closed. If you care about your health, don't buy this. Very disappointed.

I bought this 1 year and 8 days ago- technically it has been less than a year that it has been used since it took so long to get here. It hasn't been working correctly for about 3 months, so we had a appliance repair man come in to take it apart. They said all the gears are broken in the bottom. They said that it looks so bad, that there's no way that this was intact when it got here, it was just a waiting to break. For the price we paid- I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product.

3 months in and the refill valve stuck and flooded our apartment floor. So far they only support option offered is to ship the unit to the US and back at my expense to have it fixed. Complete garbage and absolutely no support. Avoid this product at all costs!

TASTED AWFUL and there is no way to return this item. Called Whynter direct and they refused to help. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR ANY WHYNTER PRODUCT IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.

The machine itself worked good for the first year. But after 1 year plus a week after we bought the machine started leaking water fast. We did have it hard plumbed so it was a big mess. Do not plumb it directly. Unfortunately no warranty although we only used it for 10 months. lucky for me I happened to be near it when it happened
