Attractive and space saving
Attractive space saving, installation was a bit of a challenge, as I purchased the 36" wide, and the flat hood portion doesn't have enough of it own support so it drooped at about 1/2" at both sides. I ended up having to drill holes in the stainless steel in about 8 places and screwing the hood to the bottom of the cabinets. This replaced and 1990's 40" wide hood, it is nice I gained about 4 more inches of space above my range without removing and reworking the cabinetry and chimney to gain a bit more space. It definitely evacuates more than my old hood, has fairly good yellow lighting and isn't too loud on high, the quiet mode is a nice feature.I'm happy with it now that's it installed

Very Good Looking Range Hood
Love the sleek, minimal look. Works very well. The quiet setting is indeed quiet and the high setting is typical for the strength of the unit.

A long road to Range Hood happiness
My road to range hood happiness starts with my instinct to go 'cheap' on replacing the kitchen's existing hood. Not a good idea. I went through 4 NOISY units from COSMO. Four....the number 4. Each one with something unacceptable, to include 2 re-packed units....obviously used due to fingerprints, scratches and poor packing. These units retailed for about $120.00. I recommend staying away from cheap. Spend a little more. This KOBE unit was installed this morning. It is a solid, quiet piece of work. It seems that I have now reached Range Hood happiness. This unit is powerful and quiet and it lights up the surface very well. At this early stage, I would certainly recommend it.To the manufacturer, please pack the unit tighter so that the unit doesn't move around so much in shipping, causing the styrofoam to shred into thousands of pieces. The cleanup is a lot of work, time consuming. Or at least secure and SEAL the plastic bag on the unit so that the pieces of styrofoam don't get INTO the units fan housing interior. At this stage.................thumbs up.Cooked my first meal. The hood kept the room cool and mostly odorless. And on high speed it doesn’t interfere with normal conversation.===============Some time later, still happy. We've cooked a lot of food under that hood and the 680 CFM removes the food odors and range top heat with ease.

Quiet and strong, but very Very sharp fat filter, beware.
I like that there appears to be simple toggle switches on this hood. I'm sick of having to push multiple buttons to program a circuit board which fails prematurely, or ges fried during a power surge in a thunderstorm ... and the simplicity of mechanical switch or something that appears to be that, for something that requires daily multiple use, makes sense to me. The motor runs quiet and smooth and strong. They warn you about not putting your fingers in the slots of the filters. However, the filters are held on by both a sliding button and a magnetic strip round them. This means it takes quite a pull to get them off, and without thinking you want to put your fingers into those slots to assist the process. They are razor sharp and you won't even realize you cut yourself till you see the blood drops splashing into the sink if you make that mistake. I don't understand why this milling problem should exist at all, and feel it is irresponsible to make a product with this problem. I am somewhat skeptical about how these filters remove fat. They don't have any type of close set fat screening such as we are used to in a fat filter, but simply suck the air past an offset set of slots on the front and back of a hollow cavity "filter"... but I have not used this for long enough to really goop it up. How to clean something this sharp when you don't own a dishwasher is still in question. Still, it is one of the few that still retain seemingly mechanical and simple switches that are likely to stand the test of time, and that is really great! If you don't read instructions, you'll be wondering why you get only one speed out of a supposedly 3 speed motor. In fact, if you put this into "quiet" mode, it overrides all the other speeds, even when you select those. You must first turn off the quiet mode to get the other speeds... which really isn't intuitive. I would guess this override feature indicates that there must be some circuit board action happening inside that switch as well, but the switches appear to be mechanical.

Looks great, pulls air really well
Have not had a chance to clean it. But otherwise, in 2 months, this fan is the best I've ever had.
