Absolutely useless
I rarely leave reviews, but this book got me slightly infuriated. For a roughly 100$ you get a compilation of technical info on cameras and lenses available from manufacturers and zero personal input from the author. It’s literally tech specs from the Red, Arri, Canon whatever website with their camera details. But then some cameras in the book were not released at the moment of publications so the whole page is based on a marketing campaign (if I remember correctly that’s a case with a chapter on a red Komodo). If you’re looking for an advice on digital cinematography, go to a local rental house and do tests and read up on Steve Yedlin’s website. And don’t forget the Team Deakins podcast. Information on digital workflows changes too fast for publishers to catch up on it.
