Drill America - POU3/8NPTW/DRILL 3/8" Carbon Steel NPT Pipe Tap and 37/64" High Speed Steel Drill Bit Set, POU Series

Good sharp drill bit, excellent tap. Threads this tap cut are perfectly in specification, and were clean and easy to use. Perfect size and nice and quick.

Good HHS steel drill bit & tap set, comes in plastic pouch, oiled for shipping. Drill bit is 6” overall with 3-1/2” of twist drill. Shank is cut down to .499”, fits any 1/2” max chuck and has small three side flats ground on shank (Silver & Demming style). Tap: 3/8”-18 NPT hardened & tapered as a starter tap, beefy body, .540” square head. Hard to find this size drill in the hardware stores, but tap is seemingly common (and not as beefy a body as this one is, my older one is only .430” square head). Pouch is thick plastic, keeps them together and sharp. Use lots of cutting fluid for both drilling and tapping process.

These work Great. This isn't a 5-minute job You must be very careful slow and steady and kept the tap clean when using it. Working in and out numerous times backing out and putting in very good price for the size.

This is decent quality - Harbor Freight kind of quality. Used it a few times on mid-grade metals and it worked fine. Drill bit is fair quality but did the job. Seriously doubt it would hold up to repeated use or high grade steel but got what I expected for the price.

I used these to drill and tap the hole for the AN fitting to replace the old stripped bleeder screw on my 02 Jeep Liberty 3.7 and worked like a charm. Thanks to and shout-out to Martin builds on YouTube who gave me this idea which he shows is easy and brilliant

I needed to clean up some threads and drill out an old aluminum pipe plug that was hopelessly stuck in a bung. I was able to successfully use this kit to do both operations and clean up the rest of the 3/8 NPT holes I was dealing with as well. It did the job and didn't break the bank. I would recommend it.

Value for money does the job

This worked really well. I needed to enlarge a 1/4 npt hole to 3/8 npt. Drill low speed with cutting fluid, dont burn the drill bit. Then tap slowly with cutting fluid too, take your time. I used a 12 point 6mm socket to turn the tap. Started with a battery dewalt 3 gear drill/driver at very low rpm to engage it straight to start then I continued with a ratchet by hand once it was straight. Perfect npt connection. I have zero idea how long it would last if used frequently, but a pro quality tap is around 100$ for just the tap and I would guess like 50$ for the drill so this kit is great value if you need it for a little project.

Need to repair a compressor manifold connection and it worked well.

Nice tool! Great to have a fairly decent bit and tap all the correct size. It did everything I needed it to do and it’s not dull. So pretty good I think.
