Homedics Demineralization Cartridge for Ultrasonic Humidifiers 4-Pack

Bought these for my ultrasonic humidifier to help cut down on white dust buildup and they seem to do their job well. Easy to install, last a decent amount of time, and definitely more convenient than constantly cleaning mineral residue off nearby furniture. They’re also pretty reasonably priced compared to some replacement cartridges, so overall I’d buy them again.

I tried this out in a humidifier that was blanketing my apt in white powder after I moved to a neighborhood that had harder water. I tested it out in a small room first. Although the white powder was eliminated on the first day, by the second a very small amount had accumulated. So although it does work, it won’t completely eliminate the issue especially if your water is on the harder side. I ended up switching to an evaporative humidifier, but continue to use these as I heard it can help the filter wear out less quickly.

Purchased these demineralization cartridges for our grandmother, to use in her humidifier that gets bad build-up & makes white dust. We choose this product because these are suppose to fix those two problems. We are extremely pleased with how well these work. When these arrived we were surprised at the size of them, since we tried others that were much longer & bigger around as well. These however work much better that the others we have tried & seem to last much longer also. We have purchased these twice since & every time they work the same. Before we left this review, we tried these cartridges out for months to make sure they worked as well as we thought they were working. These are suppose to work for atleast one month, but we have left them in for over 3 to see if the build-up or white discharge came back...it took about 100 days until we noticed anything. So we now change them 4 times a year or every 3 months. This might vary for some by the size of the humidifier or the hardness of their water. Pros: Great quality, that lasts longer than expected Reduces the white dust completely, no residue at all & Takes away all the water build-up, to save on extra humidifier cleaning Cons: None so far, and this is our third purchase Overall we love these demineralization cartridges and would recommend them to anyone with build-up or white residue problems. These work well. They do keep the mineralization of the water from being sprayed out onto your furniture. Just be sure to change them when time to do so. They aren't miracle workers but they do work quite well.

Works almost perfectly. Had a few white dust particle. But, nothing compared to before using this. Will say I only change it every 2 months. So maybe no white dust if I change every month. Will definitely buy again.

U can't tell the size by the pics they provide_check out my pics_ i measured these at approx 1 1/2" long and approx 1/2"-3/4" wide. U have 2 soak these in water for 10 minutes b4 putting in your humidifier tank_ i included 13 pics -and a video__ showing the size_ showing the package insert/instructions, etc. they R smaller than a stick of gum (length-wise)_ they R approx the size of 2 quarters laying side by side__SEE PICS and VIDEO U will also see these side by side with the Air Innovations demineralize filters/-container caps_ HoMedics UHE-HDC4 Ultrasonic Humidifier Demineralization Cartridges i have an Air Innovations ultrasonic humidifier- they sell 2 larger filters- that are also the screw on/off caps for the water containers_they cost $20_ and only good for approx 45 days use_ these smaller ones by HoMedics say that they R good for 30-40, tank fills - 1 gallon tank size. Air Innovations Demineralization Filters (2-pack) you need these filters if you have hard water- water with a higher mineral content that causes white dust in the room you keep the humidifier in- the kind of humidifiers that create mist- the minerals R in the mist- so when the water vapor evaporates into the air- the white mineral dust settles on all your stuff in the room. U can purchased a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter 2 measure the softness/hardness of your water_ i purchased 1 on amazon for $8 _ it also takes the water temperature. having a water softener does make your water softer- but it doesn't reduce TDS_ only a reverse osmosis water filter will remove almost all TDS from your water XLUX Digital TDS Meter, Water Quality Tester, 0-9990 ppm Measurement Range , 1 ppm Resolution, +/- 2% Readout Accuracy i found a chart that shows what TDS numbers mean soft/hard water: the United States Geological Survey uses the following classification into hard and soft water, Classification hardness in mg/L (or parts per mill) Soft 0–60 Moderately hard 61–120 Hard 121–180 Very hard 181 ≥ my tap water is only 100-ish TDS_ which is considered moderate hard_ the water isn't hard enough 2 leave rust stains or mineral deposits in the bath tub, sinks or toilet- and the water tastes fine_ so no indicators of hard water except for when using an ultrasonic humidifier, i was getting white mineral dust residue in the room i have the humidifier in__ so i ordered the TDS meter and discovered i had moderate hard water. approx 100-ish. the instructions on ultrasonic humidifiers say to use distilled water if U have hard water_ at $1.50-ish or more a gallon- that gets expensive_ especially if U have 2 use it every day for several months in the winter.__2 gallons a day__ so with my water being only moderate hard- i can use these filters and fill the tanks with 1/2 distilled water and 1/2 tap water. _ or i can constantly dust every surface in the room- along with vacuuming the carpet every day.. i've been using these approx a week_ i have an Air Innovations dual tank ultrasonic humidifier_ i purchased their more expensive demineralize cartridge/container-caps_ which only work with Air Innovation products_ and i put 1 of these small HoMedics demineral cartridges in each tank_ and using 1/2 distilled and 1/2 tap water for the 1st couple days of the week (i only bought 2 gallons)_ and approx 4 days using just tap water and these cartridges (along with the built in filters on the water tank caps)__ and there is no noticeable white mineral dust build up after 1 week.. i'm keeping track of how many times i fill up the tanks and i'll try 2 update this when the cartridges stop working and white dust starts showing up... these seem 2 B working in my ultrasonic humidifier_ but my tap water is only mild/moderate hard_ i didn't even know i had hard water till testing it (and the white mineral dust deposits)__ i hope these can also help U_ if U R not sure U have hard water_ buy the $8 TDS meter i mentioned above I hope some of the info/vid/pics i shared has been helpful 2 U_

I have been using these tablets since they came with my new humidifier. I still do get some mineral buildup, but that's only in the typical spots of the lower portion of the machine and at the spout. But these mineral buildup spots are relatively easy to clean versus if you did not have these tablets. I clean my humidifier about 1x a month and use a new tablet every time. My old humidifier with NO tablet I would clean about 2x a month and the cleaning process would be longer. These tablets are a great investment. Reduces mineral buildup and reduces cleaning time. P.S. If you have a water dispenser on your refrigerator, don't forget to replace the filter pre recommendations of the manufacturer. Or, if you use a water purifier pitcher, use water that water for your humidifier. It makes a HUGE difference!

Work perfectly in my kettle. I have extremely hard water from my well. My kettle, (which is black) turns white on the inside in two days use until I put two of these in it. Going on a month now and still good!

We still have a bit of white dust but no where as much as before. We had to clean the floor with straight vinegar to get the residue off before we started using this. Now there is no dust on the floor between washes

I have a cool mist humidifier which unfortunately produces a lot of white calcium mist that settles on furniture. It came with a demineralization filter in it but a lot of white mist was still produced. I hoped by adding another demineralization replacement cartridge to the water, less mist would be produced. Unfortunately, it didn't help. Toronto water must be very hard. Guess distilled water is the next and best choice or just put up with the white mist.
