Musonius Rufus: Lectures and Sayings

Good book on practing Stoicism
The book itself is mostly focused on Ethics(He is straight to the point). It is worthing buy after you have read the Discourses of epictetus/Enchiridion and Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Every Stoicism Lover should buy this one. it's a very short book. Musonius Rufus supports the equal treatment of Women and Men in terms of education concerning Virtue. He talks about Food, Clothing, House etc. He is kind of extreme defending that we should have a lot of kids even when we don't have a lot of money which i don't agree with. Rufu's Stoicism is very close to cynism(yes, Stoicism come out of Cynic School).

Musonius Rufus, known as the Roman Socrates.
I liked Cynthia King's translation, as it is a modern translation that is easy to read.Musonius Rufus gives practical advice on some of the most important issues of our time.

Excellent new translation of a little-known but important Stoic thinker
Musonius Rufus was in his day one of the most important Roman Stoic philosophers and reportedly taught the now better-known Epictetus. But his work is largely lost and what survives is not as well known as Epictetus or Marcus Aurelius.Cynthia King's translation is excellent and far more accessible than the older out-of-copyright version that is used in free / cheap Kindles of Rufus' work.If you're at all interested in Stoic thought, I recommend this book. Among other reasons, Rufus' work is one of the few fragments of surviving Stoic thought that shows these philosophers were (at least partially) breaking out of the sexist assumptions of the Greek and Roman societies they lived in, and recognising women as full human beings in our own right, able to be taught philosophy and live a Good Life as the Stoics understood it.
