Crusade: Starfire, Book 1

What an interesting universe this book creates! Humans and several other sentient races, sometimes at war and sometimes allies. Some noble leaders, some corrupt, and plenty of characters to get to know. It also raises interesting questions about sharing technology with other cultures that Star Trek pretended to respect (but rarely did in practice).

Good book, shipped quickly.

This is the second book in the series and seemed to stick a bit more closely to one side aspect of the Starfire Universe (as outlined in the games). This particular book deals with the advent of the Thebans--and more than that I cannot say without spoilers!Well written, the space battles are well done and the timelines to get something done/built are pretty realistic given the circumstances. I liked this aspect.VERY recommended; if you're at all a fan of good military sci-fi and/or a hardcore gamer like myself, you'll like this book (and series).

A good read. Can’t wait to try the follow on books. So many characters and actions! I say be prepared!

I'm rereading this part of this series as I just Started Disinherited. And need to refresh the time and space in my mine, I got way to many worlds in my head at the moment reading 2 series and one stand alone novel. But this is one of the better war and science fiction series and good read.

A friend recommended author to me and wow was I impressed with the writing. Just what my SF appetite wants.

Keeps pages turning. Stimulating excitement.

Quatre romans de David Weber et Steve White également réunis en une édition omnibus :  The Stars at War  ET  The Stars At War II  .Sinon regarder pour le tome 1 :  Insurrection  et pour la suite :  In Death Ground C'est vraiment bon , touffu et cette impression est encore accentuée par le plan de construction de l'ensemble .Il y a de nombreux personnages ..Impossible de savoir s'ils seront toujours là 2 pages plus loin ( et ce pour de bonnes raisons ) ...C'est un univers complexe doté d'une longue histoire de conflits et de rapports inter-espèces ..Grâce au talent des deux auteurs nous parcourons .. la plus grandes partie des guerres et conflits qui ont secoué sur un siècle ( un peu moins ) cet univers soigné et crédible .A un moment donné l'humanité subit un choc frontal de plein fouet avec les forces d'invasions extraterrestres .Énormément de tensions ... de désespoir .. et d'ampleur !!On est soufflé par le rythme .Un bon contexte tactique et stratégique .. renseignement .. décisions politiques et situations militaires .Il y a également une gestion très fine de la sortie de crise .. ( un rebondissement de plus aux milieux des nombreux rebondissements .. )Le contexte technologique du bouquin .. des personnages assez attachants et crédibles .. en font un excellent moment .Un univers crédible et soigné .. du souffle et du rythme .C'est assez exceptionnel dans le genre SF militaire .. ( bien écrit ).Un must je crois .Manifestement les auteurs ont mobilisé des connaissances historiques sur la situation militaire et politique des states pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale .. ( en partie au moins et sur un front en particulier ).Pour les autres conflits il y a également des références historiques certaines .. mais je crois que c'est au lecteur de les retrouver .. non ?.................................................................................................................... I like this series of military fiction. The authors really have a go at politicians and religious stupidity and blindness. Just a shame I had to spend so much time trying to translate scotish English into standard as this was very annoying and cost this review a star. A good read.

... ist das große Thema dieses Buches (von der Action einmal abgesehen). Darüber hinaus thematisiert es auch das Recht zum Widerstand gegen ein Verbrecherregime und die Verantwortung des Soldaten der Politik gegenüber. Kurz gesagt: Das Buch unterhält nicht nur hervorragend, sondern regt auch zum Nachdenken an.

This Book has been ripped to bits my leaving out large lumps of action.Also most narraters can stick with the names of chars through the book and not seem to change them all the timeI will be returning it ASAP.Very disappointing Would not have given it any stars
