If you don’t trim it and just shove it in your roof, then your roof will be slightly raised and your door will have a gap above the windows and screwing the roof down with the Phillips screws by your back windows to the frame of the jeep is hard also. You could try heating up the rubber with a hair dryer but it still is too fat to wedge in your roof without causing it to be slightly raised.
