Q: Which direction does the pattern run? Can’t tell as it’s shown both ways. Trying to figure out how much to order with pattern in the horizontal direc

The pattern will be however you position it. A 36"x 72" size on a shower door of approx the same size will be vertical. If you wanted a horizontal position you would have to cut it in half and position half on top and half on the bottom. I don't remember the sizes available but they may have two 36"x36" that would accomplish the same thing without cutting it. Either way, just measure your location, and select the closest size available in relation to the direction of the pattern.

Q: Does this work on plexiglass?

I don't see why not as long as it's not in direct sunlight. Test a small strip first or contact the plexi glass manufacturer.

Q: Does this product substantially reduce (natural) light? I have limited natural light in my office and don't want to deprive my plants of any more

No. It’s very bright and I bought it for my plants in my bedroom. I set up a kind of greenhouse in my bedroom window and I didn’t want my neighbors to see in. But, you can still see through this window cling fyi. I stood at the road and could still see straight through the window. So, if you want complete privacy, get something else. But this worked for me. I just used a dark cloth to block the rest of the window.

Q: Does the patern run vertical or horizontal on the roll?

Vertical. It took a roll for each of my shower doors with a little left over. I trimmed a bit off one side and the bottom by lining up one corner of the film in one corner of the door. Less waste also.
