Out-of-the-box analog sticks are usually close, not sacred. ☐ Clip to the pot so the bulb sits in the liquid, not resting on the bottom (bottom reads the pan, not the candy). ☐ Watch the big dial for soft-ball / hard-crack stages or oil heat without hunting for batteries mid-recipe. ☐ Wipe clean after; do not treat the glass like a stirring spoon or leave it in a screaming empty pan. The white CRAFT911 does the classic job: readable scale, pot clip included, works for candy, deep fry, and candle wax once you confirm it is honest. Four stars because some clips feel fiddly on thin saucepans and every analog thermometer deserves a calibration habit. Fine kitchen tool—not a lab instrument, not disposable junk either. If the clip hates your pot rim, a silicone band as backup has saved more than one batch at our house.

Exactly as described. Arrived on time. The thermometer was only 5*F off when I got it and calibrated it. This is a high-range thermometer so you're not going to be able to use it under 50*F. Therein, calibration is in boiling water at 212*F / 100*C. Easy to calibrate - same as what we used in Restaurants. Clip holds well. Pleased with this item.

This gadget often failed as a candy thermometer, requiring frequent calibration. Its clip was also awkward. Precise sugar work demands accuracy; even one degree can ruin a batch. Digital thermometers are unreliable. Picture attached, A traditional, flat-faced thermometer with a sturdy clip and protective guard is best for candy making. This is the way to go.

Perfect

I used this once when i bought it a year ago. Reached for it recently and found it to be broken. The stem was completely snapped away from the body. It was in my kitchen drawer and obviously too fragile.

The ad shows it as coming in a box. Mine came loose in an Amazon envelope and no instructions. Arrow is not on zero but instead is on 22 degrees. No way to calibrate it. If you want your liquid to be 350 degrees I suppose you would have to wait until the arrow points to 372 degrees. Guess I'll have to forego the dollars spent on this and purchase a better one.
