They most likely DO NOT officially support this. This is entirely AT YOUR OWN RISK. However, it is certainly possible to do safely! You just need to be very careful. I suggest taking a painkiller, such as ibuprofen, an hour beforehand, since the area is very sensitive. BEFORE YOU PLAN TO DO THE FULL AREA: Please do a single patch test in the area you are treating. Wait a few days to see if there is any irritation in that spot. I'm absolutely sure you do not want your precious cargo damaged or scarred! As well, I am aware that some men may have lighter hair on their scrotum, compared to the rest of their body hair. Not to mention, the skin of the scrotum tends to be darker than the rest of your body. Please ensure that the hair colour is dark enough that the pulse light will be effective. And ensure you use a setting that is appropriate for the skin darkness. If the hair is not dark enough, your skin will absorb the energy instead of the hair, and that will almost certainly cause irritation. Ensure the area is freshly washed and shaved. If necessary, lightly moisturise the area to prevent dry/flakey and sensitive skin. Wait at least 30 minutes after moisturising to ensure it has been fully absorbed and does not look or feel greasy. If there is any excess still left on the skin, gently wipe away the excess with a damp cloth. As well, you do not want to just trim the hair. The process for pulse light hair removal means that it will heat up all dark areas. If you have longer hair, it will heat up all of the visible hair, and that will definitely cause more pain and irritation. So please carefully shave or use depilatory cream (Be even MORE careful, and wait a few days afterwards to prevent additional irritation) on the area to ensure the pulse light only affects the hair shaft under the skin, and of course, the root! Because the root is where you want the heat to be focused. Ensure that it has the shortest and easiest path to the root :) Longer hair also creates a nasty burning smell! Stretch the skin out, and use a white eyeliner pencil to draw guidelines of the width of the device window, to ensure you do not go over the same area multiple times. This would almost certainly cause irritation, especially in such a sensitive area. When you start treatment, stretch the skin, and KEEP it as flat as you can during the session. And do not use continuous pulse flashes. Pick the area, click to flash, and then move to the next area before clicking again. Using continuous pulse flashes could cause you to accidentally go over the same area twice. Again, this is not officially supported by the manufacturers. So this is entirely at YOUR OWN RISK. But it is actually more common than you might think! Many professional pulse light hair removal businesses offer this service. I would highly suggest you and anyone else interested in treating this area do more research on your own, as well.

Is this suitable to use by males?

got no problems with it, i thought it wouldn’t work but i’m on my 4 treatment and more then half of my body hair is gone. i use it on neck and i have less irritation when i shave the neck

amazon suggests buying w gel and protective glasses. are they necessary and if not needed, are there any advantages to using them?

Goggles not necessary and gel not compatible with this device. The gel is soothing and there is some discomfort when using the device but instructions say skin should be dry. They also say goggles not necessary but wouldn't do any harm.

Does IPL kill the roots or put them to sleep?
