Touching and thought-provoking
I'm usually a mystery reader and seldom read family sagas or sentimental stories -- but since I'm a quilter, this series intrigued me. If you haven't yet gotten involved with the Elm Creek Quilters, do yourself a favor and buy all of them so you can start at the beginning with Quilter's Apprentice.Until now, the second novel in the series was my favorite, but I agree with other reviewers that this one is the best yet.The background on Sylvia's family of origin and early childhood are an interesting story in of themselves and add so much to the complex character Chiaverini has created in Sylvia Compson. The details about the Spanish flu are chilling and helped me put some of my own family's history into perspective, since my grandmother lost a newborn in that epidemic. The description of how it affected the Bergstrom family brought tears to my eyes as I pictured my grandparents' tragedy.Although I loved the historic family saga most, the story of Sylvia and Andrew and Sylvia's search for her mother's quilts is interesting, too; and there is much food for thought in contemplating Sylvia and Andrew's December relationship and Andrew's family's less-than-supportive reaction. I'm sure we haven't heard the last word on that situation, and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Wonderful story
A good read with history and I was inspired to take up quilting again. I took a great class at my local quilt shop and am trying to encourage others that quilting is an art and a way to connect with others. This book and the others have quilting and people of all types who engage in it as their central themes.

Sew good!
Jennifer consistently provides us with enjoyable books populated by warm, realistic and engaging characters, and filled with well researched history. Yes, there is romance, but it's not just for the younger characters. And the friendships and family relationships are given just as much weight. This is not just a "beach book". But it is a quick read because you get pulled into the lives of the characters and the history of the setting. It is hard to put down.I highly recommend this book.

Best one yet
I loved this story! And I totally loved the part about the Spanish Flu as we are now in the midst of a pandemic. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Legacy Quilt explained. Current story line is loving and sentimental.
My review of every book in this series is the same. It takes a quilt and explains the meaning and history while interweaving the quilt's past story with a modern day group of quilters that run a quilt camp in a beautiful old mansion. Quilt history meets heartwarming chick story. Even if you never quilt, you wish you were quilting with them. I even bought the quilt pattern book just to look at all the quilts and read the history.

Inspiration.
Reading how fast the past slips by and how difficult it is to put it all back together again, made me realise that not everyone cherishes quilts and knows how they should be treated. It is a piece of yourself that lives on. Label them well and include washing and storing instructions.

Wonderful stories
For the past several years I have adored the Quilt camp series. I borrowed them from libraries, and now am collecting them for my own library. My main hobby is making quilt tops to be quilted by friends, these go to charity when complete.

Brilliant as usual
This series of books, the Elm Creek Quilters, is really a must for anyone who quilts. I began quilting a couple of years ago so even as a 'rookie' I find the books hugely entertaining and can understand some of what is being said about quilts and blocks. In this book I felt the anguish of the story teller finding one of her mother's lost quilts altered beyond repair. I love the way in which we are told her mother's story alongside her quest to find the lost quilts. There was also the storytellers own story and the problems encountered from offspring regarding her proposed second marriage.

More history of Sylvia's family
Another book I had to read. The quest for quilts leads to a story that explores issue of relationships and history.
