Do these balls break easily ?

Mine have not broken, but likewise they are not handled as I attached them to an artificial half tree designed to hang on a wall. Each year after Christmas I take the tree off the wall and store it in a box until the following Christmas. I thought they might discolor because they are stored in a garage with no climate control (extreme heat in the summer and extreme cold in the winter. They are just as pretty after several years as they were when I received them.

Do they have hooks or strings on them?

There are no added hooks or strings just the metal cap with the open circle (as pictured).

So what is the difference between the old version and the new version? I cannot see any differences in the photos.

I had no idea that there was a version new or old. All I know is that I did get them and they ended up being the exact balls that I needed for my little glass tree.
