Using the OEM feels right
I replaced the lock-up duty solenoid on my wife's 2012 Outback and it felt right to use the Subaru oil. This 6 pack was decently priced, although still more than I want to pay! When I just drain the CVT oil and do a fill, 6 quarts is enough. But if you are dropping the pan and removing the valve body like I had to do, then you need more like 10 quarts.

The best trans fluid for Subrau Outback’s
This is the real stuff that Subaru has made for themselves and yes it is not cheap but it is what that trans has to have to operate correctly and it does work great because it’s is OEM fluid. This is the only fluid I would use.
