This means that water travels from an area of higher water concentration (the volume outside of the intestinal tract) to an area of lower water concentration (the volume inside the intestinal tract) to balance concentrations on both sides. The concentration spoken of is the concentration of PEG 3350 which stays inside the intestinal tract and cannot cross the boundary into the body. That is how it works!
