The thread on the 3/8"-1/2" converter does not match with the thread on the hose.

Before purchase, I checked into how this unit is tested and built. Every answer from the manufacturer indicates the filter manufacturing is done after completion of necessary engineering process. That includes the necessary certification and water hammer test. Some folks commented on my inquiry of the unit hammer test as unimportant. They forget most liquids are incompressible and the constant open/close of water faucet can over time cause leakage and even burst inside this filter. The most unpleasant thing after installation is to see a flooding in my kitchen. The filter arrived with two connectors which allow half-inch or 3/8" connection. My picture shows how the 3/8" connection should be made for my kitchen faucet. For 1/2", exchange the two connector positions in the picture. The overall installation took less than 10 minutes including flushing the filter for 3+ minutes before taste test. It is simple and straight-forward as expected. You can see in my short video that there is no INITIAL cold water pressure drop after installation. Comparing the taste before and after installation, this filter surely takes away the chlorine taste. About how well this filter can perform in other areas, most test kits cannot do a good job and I also have no reason to suspect heavy metal poisoning in the Chicago Cook County suburb area. So I will not spend time and effort in this area. I also tested how to replace the inside cartridge as the manufacturer said. It is a simple twist to unlock the housing from the top cap, then use the enclosed wrench to release the cartridge before placing a new one inside the housing. However I turned off the water supply when doing my test. Their claim is that this is not necessary but I do not want to take that risk. And I won't be surprised a strap wrench is necessary for cartridge replacement after some period of use. The main reason I cannot give an initial 5-star rating is due to the 8K gallon filter life misinformation found on the Amazon web description. As you can see on the filter label, it clearly states maximum filter life is 2K gallon. 8K is very different from 2K. My area has water from the nearby Lake Michigan water treatment center so they are very good city water. My expectation is that this filter should last at least six months before replacement. I will update this review later on the durability aspect of this filter. My initial impression is that I would recommend this filter based on its price and quality.

Ordered this water filter for our coffee machines which required a flow rate over 1gpm. With a flow rate of 3gpm, this filter is working great and has plenty of head room for my espresso machine too! Setup and installation was easy although it only comes with one hose. Since I was installing direct to the shut-off valve at the water line, I needed two hoses. One to connect from my shut-off valve to the water filter and the second to connect from the filter to my coffee machine. I was lucky and had a second hose on hand which is the only reason I gave 4 stars for the install. (my previous smaller water filter came with two connection hoses). The other great thing I like about this filter is the see through sight indicator to see when you need to change your filter. Also, you only need to change the filter cartridge and can reuse the filter housing. Great idea to save on plastic!! Go Green!! So far so good. Water taste great, fast flow, and trying to do what I can to help save waste. Highly recommend you give it a try.

I was able to install this in my bathroom in less then five minutes! My bathroom is 3/8th fittings. HOWEVER I WAS NOT ABLE TO INSTALL UNDER MY KITCHEN SINK BECAUSE IT IS 1/2 INCH AND FIT NOTHING THAT WAS IN THE INSTALL KIT! I contacted the company through Amazon support and explained this to them & they told me I was incorrect and that their fittings are 1/2 inch and that I am just having comprehension problems and to pleas look at pictures and or watch videos etc… and that if I was unable to comprehend how to do it that I was free to return the product!!! There are multiple customers saying they have to pay out of pocket to get the right fittings yet the company refuses to acknowledge this and just act like we are mentally disabled and cannot fallow picture instructions or video! Here I thought I had found what I was looking for financially & without having to hire a plumber to install etc… put with horrible support like this I don’t want their products! BUT I have arsenic in my water so I will have to keep the one in the bathroom till I can afford to go another route… so disappointed in their response to me! Included are the photos to prove neither side of “extra hose” or connectors fit my half inch sink hose or water outlet. I should not have to go out and spend another 30/40 bucks on THIER MISTAKES!

(Over) 1 year update: Still going strong. I replaced the original filter once so far and there was a bunch of sediment. I was curious to see if there was anything inside of the filter itself (big mistake). When I opened the used filter they have all of the components (?) inside and the marble balls (probably some carbon or something) fell all over the place. BUT I was glad to see it's not just a smoke show! The filters do hold up well. One problem I did have when replacing the filter was the housing that requires the key unscrewed itself with the filter, so I was not aware that it needs to be tightened separately. So when I replaced the filter and thought everything was good, when I turned the water on the filter fell apart. This was my mistake, but just a warning to anyone else who may have the same experience - make sure everything is tight. I will keep using this filter! 2 month update: No issues seen. Filter is still in good shape. No additional build-up seen in tea kettle or anything (so it's working!). I also appreciate how quickly the customer support responds to the inquiries (I asked a question about the filter and they responded in <24 hrs). I am happy with this purchase! I took a look at several of these filters but my goal was not to remove "all" the stuff in the water. I needed something that would help with my galvanized piping. In the end, I used this filter and I was impressed. It helped the water not cause build-up on my electric kettle, it tastes better, and my plants actually grow when I pour the cold water on them. I used to get a lot of scale build-up in my tea kettle and my home plants used to die from the water. After installing it, it helped in all aspects. I did notice that the filter does turn light brown quickly, but that may just be because of my water. Install recommendation: Don't use plumbers tape but have it on-hand. I had to tighten the joint coming out of the filter housing itself cause I found it leaking. After tightening it, it worked well.
