Close shave
Good quality at a good price, should have got one of these years ago and saved a lot of money versus buying disposables. Really close shave and the blades that it came with are great.

Works as advertised
Sturdy and otherwise exactly as expected. I haven’t figured out how to use it on my legs without cutting myself, but I’ll keep practicing. I appreciate the simplicity and the price point, as well as all the extra blades.

Great replacement for Harry's brand of cartridge type razor and blades
I purchased this razor a few weeks ago and have had ample time to acclimate to the new razor and the blades. First couple of times I did nick myself, but used styptic pencil (a must for DE blade users!) and all was good. The razor itself is sturdy and easy to handle. I like the heft and feel of it in my hand. I did order 100 count of Dorco blades. I shave every day, sometimes twice in a day. Previously used Harry's products. Have to say, shaving with the new DE razor blades takes a little getting used to. However, I paid a grand total of less than $15 for the razor and blades. I have well over a year supply of blades, whereas with Harry's products, that would be about 2 months worth. I do use a vegetable glycerin based cucumber infused which doesn't provide a lot of lather. It does however, create a smooth layer on my face allowing the blade to glide smoothly across my face. Leaves a fresh, very clean, and super close shave! A bit of a learning curve to get to know the angles but after a few days, it is all good. Will never go back to cartridges again. Should have transitioned years ago. This style of razor was the type I used when I first started shaving 45 years ago. Old school still rocks in this regard. Cheaper, good quality and better for the environment = win, win, win!!

The Best Deal on Amazon!
This is an extremely well-made, long-handle razor, with excellent balance and feel. The castings and platings are top-notch and the blade angle is perfect — inexperienced shavers sometimes believe that an 'aggressive' razor is essential to close shaves; this is not the case, and very often it is counter-productive. The Derby blades that came with the razor are very good indeed, and they perform as well as the expensive 'Platinum' products. This really is an outstanding razor, and probably the best deal on Amazon. For the past fifty-one years I have been shaving with razors and blades made by Dovo in Germany — these were originally sold here (in America) under the name of Hoffritz, but since the decline of that great firm they are sold as Merkur. The ones marked Hoffritz were excellent (I still have a very worn one that is forty-three years old) but the Merkur ones are a different matter. Within a five year period I had two different models 'lose their heads' (the top separated from the screw that attaches to the handle) and just a few weeks ago the same thing happened with one of the Bakelite models. I contacted the firm about possible repair of the metal ones (I threw the Bakelite one away) and asked if they had changed the manufacturing process. I received a reply from one Anne Rothstein who informed me that the heads were made of Zamak (an inferior alloy) and that the screws were 'die-casted' [sic] on to them. She also explained that the problem was that 'men often don't know their own strength' and tighten the handle too much. So, you see, it's not shoddy workmanship and shoddy materials, but that men are too strong and too stupid. She also directed me to a third-party website that would sell me a replacement head for half the cost of a new razor plus $7.50 shipping. Instead I purchased this razor from Utopia and I am delighted with it. No more Merkur for me. UPDATE (20 October 2018) — I was so pleased with this razor that I purchased a second one to keep as a backup!

Cheap and cheerless
Crude threads make for a fiddly time trying to set the blade in place. I bought it to replace a lost 34C Merkur. Shoulda known better.

Never going back to normal razors
I was spending upwards of $20 monthly on disposable razors that really did not get a clean cut. I switched to a safety razor months ago and still haven't had to buy new razor inserts since I made the purchase, and I get a much better shave. If body hair makes you dysphoric, get one of these.

Screw Won't Tighten; Blade Became Useless - Less than Three Months and It's Garbage
Don't waste your money on Utopia Care Double Edge Safety Razor for Men & Women shaving blade. In less than 3 months of daily use (light beard, rinsed and dried after each shave), the tightening screw stripped and won't hold. I tried Teflon tape on the threads—no luck. My previous razor lasted over 2 years. Video shows the screw spinning freely. Would not buy again. Very disappointed with this purchase.

Old style better
Very well made. Ok , there’s not much to go wrong with it , but I imagine it’s going to last a long time. Also , economical and eco-friendly.

Excellent. I've recommended it for my husband.
I bought this for myself; I was tired of the pink-plastic-disposable-razor-blade cycle of frustration. (Not to mention that I'm hideously cheap and trying to lower my eco-footprint). Immediate likes: the blades are easy to install, the handle and head have a really nice weight to them and the packaging makes you feel like you're an important person. I've never used a safety razor before, so I figured I would slice up my legs and underarms while swearing furiously. This was not the case. On my first and second tries, I got a couple of small cuts, but nothing more than the average pink-plastic reality I lived with before. So I was pleased, especially since I hadn't gotten over the learning curve yet. Here is where I get impressed: I hadn't shaved my legs in 6 months. Seriously. I call it 'Canadian Female in Winter Mode'. And this just did the job, quickly and quietly with an unassuming attitude. Like asking someone from Olivia Pope's team to 'take care of someone', it was done, cleaned up and looking spiffy for the next round like nothing had ever happened. For me, whenever I neglect my shaving (let's be honest: that's all the time), it can be hell to get hair out from between the blades of a multi-blade razor. And this was no problem to clean up. I also didn't use shaving cream, and instead I opted for a good 'ole bar of soap. It worked great. I've read that not all blades are made equal, so while the Derby blades that come with this have worked out well for me, I'm looking forward to buying a variety pack of different brands and testing them out. Were there any negatives? I guess the handle got a little slippery in the shower, but I didn't drop it (yet). And I suppose that when I do drop it, it could damage the tub or myself. Additionally, I've got a toddler, and I don't leave it in the shower. This sucker is sharp.

Avoiding using wasteful disposable plastic razors
This is the first safety razor I have owned for many years. I got it to avoid using plastic disposable razors. The razor is all metal, no plastic. It is heavier than a plastic disposable razor and probably a little easier to cut yourself so I find myself having to be more careful when shaving. It shaves as well, if not better than a disposable razor. It is well made and good quality. Good value for the purchase price.
