Works well until you accidently overfill it and kill the electronics.
I had to buy a second unit because my first one failed. Why on earth would I do that and still give this a 2-star rating? Because it is very easy to overfill with water, and it is poorly designed to drain excess water away from the electronics inside. And that's what killed my first one.I need to run a humidifier in a closet where I store guitars. I opted to try an ultrasonic version after years of dealing with an evaporative humidifier, which gets pretty expensive if you add up the cost of replacing all of the gunk-laden wick filters over the years. With an ultrasonic mist type of humidifier I resigned myself to having to buy distilled water to avoid the white mineral deposits that you get on everything if using tap water. I do like the small footprint of this vertical style of cabinet, and the nozzles help keep the mist away from areas where I don't want a direct blast. The top fill design is also a big plus.I do have had two annoying issues with this model, neither of which kept me from buying the replacement when the first failed. The first issue is that three times I have opened the closet to find the humidifier running at 100% and with water collected on every horizontal surface. I attribute this mainly to not checking and double checking the setting after restart, but I have to question why going to 100% happens so easily. The second complaint that I have is the tiny teardrop-shaped clear window that lets you see the water level over roughly the last gallon before the tank is full. There is no internal illumination, so I have to keep a flashlight near the humidifier (in a closet, remember) to peer in to try to see the top of the water. And ultimately this poor visibility in the tank is what led to the catastrophic failure of the first unit.I was adding water while watching for the level to come up to the window, when in reality the water was already above the window line because the humidifier had apparently not been running very much. When I heard water coming out the overfill drain holes I knew what happened and stopped, but in the time it took the water to stop draining out the sides I heard the "pffft" of dying electronics.I disassembled the unit and found that the bottom edge of the main circuit board had been immersed in water. I dried everything out, replaced the on-board fuse and all of the visibly burnt rectifier diodes, but unfortunately the board was still dead. And since my guitars don't like to be without humidity I had to act fast and order a replacement. Despite the things I didn't like about this one, it was a known quantity and I wasn't in the mood to experiment with another model.So here's the problem I have with the product and why I wouldn't recommend it. This humidifier is very easy to overfill because you need to be able to view the top of the water through a small side window. And while they did put in holes to allow water to drain above the fill line, the holes are too few and too small, and water drains a lot more slowly than you are generally pouring the water in. And to aggravate this further they mounted the circuit board too low to give much overfill safety margin. So if you are pouring water from a gallon jug and stop immediately when you hear water trickling out the sides, enough water may remain in the pouring reservoir that you are helpless as the water continues to rise internally as the drain holes slowly let it out. And if you are unlucky like me, you hear a tick, smell burnt circuit board, and your display panel goes dark.And of course these are inexpensive circuit boards that have no trace of sealer or any other conformal coating to at least make them water resistant.So had this not been an emergency I would not have bought the same unit twice, knowing what I know now. Another brand may be just as bad or it may be better. The overfilling was my fault, but it is poor product design that made viewing the water level so difficult, prevented adequate draining of excess water, and allowed the resultant momentary overfill to kill the electronics.

Best humidifier
Bought for a large master bedroom. Other humidifiers I tried had problems getting above 35%. Tested this out, and has no problem getting to 90%, do not keep it that high, but keeps room at 55% without issues. Holds 4+ gallons of water, easy to fill, extremely quiet! Best humidifier I ever bought. We use it for Wife’s breathing problems, no longer an issue! Would rate it 10 stars if possible!

Humidity Meter Doesn't Work, hard to see remaining water level
Unit works except for the built in humidity meter. When I first set up the unit, I programmed the desired humidity for 50% relative humidity and the unit wouldn't come on. First thought was unit was dead on arrival. Actual relative humidity in the room as verified by four other remote humidity meters was 20%. After playing with the unit and reprogramming the desired humidity up to 90%, then the unit came to life. Unit read 46% humidity in the room instead of the actual 20%. Unit is now putting moisture into the air, but since the humidity meter is way off, I'm not sure how far it will actually go since I lost a third of its useful capacity.Otherwise the top fill is nice, wheels are nice and unit is simple to operate. Just wish the humidity meter was more accurate. And like other reviewers mentioned, its hard to see the remaining water level in the unit. I use a flashlight which is a pain in the butt. Unit is fairly quiet, especially when compared to evaporative humidity units.

Pretty Good
Decent humidifier, can't complain about it, although it could have an easier filling method, and it gets very cranky and loud when the water level is low- but otherwise it's quiet. It definitely does the white dust thing if you don't use distilled water- and I'm not sure how anyone could afford to continuously use distilled water for this... I can't say that I see a huge gain in humidity for a large room as I hoped, but it does help.

A beat that's simple to use & maintain
Truly a workhorse. Works better than expected. 4 fan levels to adapt to any environment. Filling,using, and cleaning couldn't be simpler. I also use Reverse Osmosis water with the anti microbial drops.INSTRUCTION MANUAL CAN BE ANYWHERE IN BOX BUT ITS IN THERE. ALL PARTS ARE IN THE TANK! PACKAGING IS 95% compostable. Remove foam from pump in tank.

Does what is says, it humidifies
Takes a lot of water to fill it up and it goes through a lot of water depending on the settings. Initially I was filling every other day (a minor pain). However I decided to set it to a specific humidity and now it uses much less water. I am much happier. You can see the mist coming out. We call ours "Old Smokey" :}

Pumps out the water!
This replaced a 1.5 gallon desktop model. This one was considerably more expensive, and I was worried it wouldn’t do that much better of a job.I need not have worried. This thing pumps out quite a bit of water. In fact, it will empty the entire tank in approximately 20 hours. It took a week or so for the humidity levels to catch up and stabilize, but after that it did not even need to run 100% of the time in order to keep humidity levels where they need to be.Couple of minor things to note. One, it makes a fair amount of dripping or slight gurgling noises. They aren’t loud at all, but they are there. Two, it’s not the easiest to clean. There’s just a lot of pieces and tubes and things, and they all need to be cleaned. There’s nothing about the design that makes it more awkward than it needs to be. It’s just not a small job.Despite those two minor points, I think this thing fully deserves a five star review. I’m really pleased with how much humidity it puts in the air.
