The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest

Letting Go of the Pressure and Experiencing God’s Love for You
I’ve never heard someone explain so well what it means to live from a place of rest in God, to enjoy God, and know in the fabric of your being you are His beloved. This book isn’t a checklist of how to structure your time or be more productive. It’s a relief and a healing balm, especially for those of us prone to see our worth, or even our identity, coming from what we do for God instead of letting Him love us as His beloved.Christy seamlessly weaves together lessons of God’s heart changing love and her own life’s stories. She’s teaching out of her experience and vulnerability. She disarms you as a reader so God can hold your heart. There are short questions at the end of every chapter that make you dig deep without feeling an ounce of condemnation. It feels like a heart to heart conversation over coffee with a friend who is opening her heart so you can find the healing you might not even know you need. She simultaneously hits deep and is gentle. I’m finding myself at the point of tears at times. They’re not from fear or pain. They’re tears of relief as the pressure I put on myself falls off of my shoulders. If you’ve ever felt like you have to hold everything together, do or be something for God, or are simply worn out from chasing after your dreams or wondering if your dreams for your life will ever come true, this is the book for you.Take it in slowly & let God speak to your heart. Be ready to finally see yourself as God’s beloved.

Just what I needed - maybe just what your sweet heart needs, too.
This book will help bring you back to the basics, the foundation of who you are. Stop hustling, learn from what you read in The Life You Long For, and from what God has to say in the Bible, to find out what you really need to be doing with your life. Want to be more effective at you? It's time to slow down, take in the truth of your Belovedness, get encouragement to trust Father, learn to "live from the bullseye" and be on your way to the life you have been longing for. So far, I'm only a few chapters in, so my life hasn't been drastically changed....yet. I have stepped away from commitments and I curl up in a cozy blanket to read Christy's words, and write out things I've never spent much time thinking about before. I know I'm onto something so much better than I could have ever dreamed up on my own. I think everyone should read this book - especially consider all that has happened to the world over the past 13 months because of covid. We are all ready to live a better life - this book will help you to do just that.

Grace for this season.
I've followed the Nockel's family & Christy's life as a singer, song writer for years. I prayed with for her family as they shared about the loss of a baby, and rejoiced and praised God for the birth of their son Noah & then their daughter's. I could feel God's love, and truth, and even yes, strangely, friendship in their music as Sons and Daughters (with Charlie Hall and) Watermark. With that I have just dated myself. What I love most about Christy's writing is that she sat down with us as if we are her friends and wrote with us in mind. The US that is needing grace for today. The US that is new and just getting started, but maybe even especially for the (me) USes that are so in need of permission to bloom again. To re-center our souls on Christ. To focus on His purpose and dream in His name again, letting go of our plans and what those look like, to rest in the powerful one that HE WANTS to see US succeed at most. RESTING IN HIM and trusting ourselves too walk in our Belovedness. If you need a gentle, loving, sisterly reminder of just how much you mean to Him (with some sweet and funny ah ha moments sprinkled in) this is your read. What you do matters. How deeply you are loved is the main thing you can take away from this lovely book.

A generous invitation
I discovered Christy Nockels several years ago through her podcast, The Glorious in the Mundane. With her soothing voice and uplifting messages, she was a kind companion on my drive to work. So, when I heard that she was writing a book, I was thrilled.THE LIFE YOU LONG FOR is an invitation-- to believe that we are loved by God, and to live life from our belovedness. Through trust, surrender, and rest we learn that His love is kind yet relentless. He fights for our hearts.I personally related to her experience of being called to lay down a career. “...I still saw my worth as being rooted in what I could do.” Her words resonated with me. As did her reminder that “God dreams bigger dreams than we can ever dream for ourselves.” So true!Accept the generous invitation of this book, see the glorious in the mundane, learn to live as God’s beloved child, and find the life you long for. Highly recommend!

Life changing!
This book has helped me to articulate what God had been trying to speak to me about SO MANY things. He is using her story of learning to find contentment in Him and in Him alone, and then growing from that place to encourage me that it is possible. I haven’t even finished the book and already I had to write this because it’s been life changing. It will go down on a short list of the most important books God has brought into my life to teach me more about him, not counting His Word.Thank you, Christy!

Beautifully written and timely message
Christy Nockels writes from a place of personal experience. This book is easily relatable in so many areas on spiritual struggles/battles that many of us face. The book is a challenge/encouragement to live from a place of rest in Him. Something that seems to easy but is so hard for many of us. This book couldn't have come at a better time for me. I'm learning that resting in Him in enough, it's not about what I do or don't do, simply being with Him is what He desires. From there, He can pour out of me in my life in what I do and who I encounter. Such a great read!

So many things said in this book that was encouraging. What a blessing. We all need to be reminded of how much God loves us. The stories she shares are things you can identify with, she's very relatable.A must read for all of us who often (or not) need to reminded of how great God's Love is for us.

Living from Love
"I'm not more loved when I do things for God, nor am I more loved or important when I receive public praise." That quote summarises the whole book for me. It's about living from a place of being loved by God, instead of living for God.The crucial thing is God's heart for us. Christy says the word capacity "relates to what we can produce, but it has just as much to do with what we can receive, contain, and hold". This is a book about living at our fullest capacity, where we're receiving from the heart of God, and what we receive flows out to impact those around us. It's well worth reading and I've made lots of notes. It's also one of those books where I'd recommend having a music subscription because, if you're anything like me, you'll regularly want to stop and listen to the lovely songs she talks about. Thank you, Christy, for your thoughtful book and for having me on your launch team.
