Mythomorphia: An Extreme Coloring and Search Challenge is a remarkable addition to Kerby Rosanes’ body of work. Yet another grand slam for Kerby Rosanes! so much wonderful subjects that he designed! I didn't get any impression of the use of ai! which made it that much special! i felt like he crafted these coloring designs from his heart rather than An AI engine! kudos ... i am in love with his stuff.. so much i have 3 different mediums now to color some of his materials !

The best coloring artist out there

I love this artist's work, and this book doesn't have as many of the little doodle-dudes, which is cool with me. The image quality and paper quality are both good, and while very wet watercolor or ink will warp the pages out of shape, it isn't beyond doable, and dry mediums like colored pencils work well. Alcohol markers work well too, but they DO bleed through to the design on the other side. That's really the only thing that I DIDN'T like about this coloring book: I HATE that the designs are on both sides of the page, as it forces me to have to either A. buy a second copy of the book, or B. choose between great designs, as one side of the page will be ruined if I use my preferred medium, alcohol markers. I would love to buy a "special" or "artist's" edition with one sided pages!!! All in all, despite that flaw, great designs, great paper, great book!

I had picked up one of this author's other coloring books previously and put it right back. I was so intimidated by the amount of detail! While less detailed, Mythomorphia is no less intimidating because the illustrations are absolutely mind blowing! As you can probably decipher from the title, the theme of the images is myths. It's full of everything from dragons to fairies to the Sphinx. Some pages are pretty and some are creepy, but all are amazing. Mythomorphia is a paperback. Nothing too fancy going on with the cover, but the insides do not disappoint. The paper is fairly thick and white, which is standard for these type of adult coloring books. Colored pencils and gel pens work best, since alcohol based markers do bleed through in places and leave shadows on the back of the page. All of the pages are printed double sided, so you'll likely want to stick with coloring mediums that don't bleed or show on the back. There are several two pages spreads, but the illustrations do not go all the way into the binding. Instead there's a gap. On one hand, I like that, since you can color everything. But on the other hand, the pictures look broken. The illustrations of Mythomorphia are really amazing, and like I said, seem to be less detailed than the artist's previous coloring books. Not that there aren't a lot of intricate details, because there are (especially on that Chinese dragon!). But there's less "morphing" going on in this one, so there's fewer random doodles adding to the pictures. Instead, these mostly seem to be straight forward images of the mythical creatures. There are small random objects mixed in as part of the scavenger hunt portion of the book though. Overall, I think Mythomorphia is a great adult coloring book. By no means is it an easy one, and each picture will give you hours of relaxation and entertainment.

I'm in my 40's and was looking for something else to occupy my time rather than scrolling. These have been my favorite coloring books. So many details. I love getting lost in them. I bought 3 of his other books as well and me and my daughter love passing time with these.

Totally his best book yet. I'm VERY pleased with this purchase. I've usually bought the British versions of his books due to line-up issues in the American versions (the ram whose nose is off, the butterfly not lined up, etc) but I couldn't wait for this book and was pleasantly surprised that not only are the images just a 1/4 of an inch away from the "ditch" in the book, but they seem to be properly lined up as well. Perhaps the printers are listening to comments, eh? Kerby's work has always been wonderful, and I LOVE animals so I thought nothing could replace Animorphia (even Imagimorphia which I also have) but this one? Dragons, mermaids, gnomes, orcs, yeti, nearly all the kinds of mythical creatures you could ever think of are included. The images seem to be bigger than they have been and while there is still much to colour, you don't have quite as many tiny tiny spots. The best part for me? No more of the "complete yourself" pieces. I always jokingly whisper "no, Kerby, YOU draw it, I just want to colour" when I come across those pages. There are none in this book. He's fully drawn and shaded every image in the book and it's WONDERFUL. 10/10, you need this book

I own both of Kerby Rosanes earlier books (“Animorphia” and “Imagimorphia”) and really like both books. I thought it might be difficult for the artist to reach the same level with his new book. I was wrong. This is absolutely my favorite Rosanes coloring book yet. The designs are beautiful and odd at the same time – just what I want from this artist. The subject matter is cohesive and presents a great story of mythological creatures and stories. What was different and made the book more unique, is that there is less of the doodle creatures in the designs. While I love the doodle style, it made for a wonderful change of pace to have less in this book. It really provided a fantastic view of the artist's wide range of skill. I hope to see more coloring books in both styles in the future. As soon as I held and saw the physical book in my hands, I immediately ordered a second copy. I want to be able to use whatever coloring medium I wish on these fantastic designs. I'll probably pick up the UK version (in several months when it comes out) for pencil coloring as my experience is that the UK paper is best for that medium. This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing my various coloring medium on the paper. 53 Designs based on Mythological creatures and stories as interpreted in a refined form of Kerby Rosanes doodle style artwork. Designs are printed on both sides of heavyweight soft white slightly smooth non-perforated paper Many designs spread across two pages Two page designs have a white strip running down both sides of the page at the binding Hybrid Glued and Sewn Binding (lots of little stitches rather than the few in a sewn binding.) I don't suggest cutting pages out as you will lose important parts of designs. Had difficulty getting the book to open flat for coloring Alcohol-based markers bleed through Most water-based markers bleed through spotty (my only exception was the brush end of my Tombows which did not bleed through) India ink pens left shadows on the back of the page Gel pens did not leak through the paper Coloring pencils did well with this paper. While it is slightly smooth, it still has enough tooth to grip pigment fairly well. I tested both oil and wax based pencils with similar results. I was able to layer the same color, multiple colors and also to blend fairly easily with a blending stick.

Das Thema der Mythologie setzt Rosanes wunderschön in verschiedensten Motiven um, sei es der Drache, die Meerjungfrau, die Medusa oder sonstige Wesen. Das Ausmalen wird zu einer Reise durch eine phantastische Welt. Für Leute, die gern Dinge in Bildern entdecken und mit spitzen Stiften komplizierte Motive ausmalen möchten, ist dieses Buch sehr empfehlenswert.

In love with this book. Paper quality is amazing I did not expect it to be this good. Kerby Rossanes at his best.

I am soooo excited to review this book for you as I have enjoyed it so much. The book Mythomorphia by Kerby Rosanes is the first book I have purchased from this artist. I absolutely loved everything about this book. Kerby is a very talented artist and his attention to detail is incredible like doing the shading and adding artistic details for us non-artists to add to our coloring. I am not an artist but after doing a picture with these details it looks like I am an artist. Every picture is so interesting and so much going on that I am not bored at all. I wish I had looked at the flip through on you tube to see how great his art really is. You may not be a dragons and creatures person but the way it has been done there is something for everyone in this book. I would recommend this book for that man in your life. I have been trying to get my son interested in coloring but he hasn't been interested except when I showed him this book. The most important thing in a coloring book is the art not that the paper is a great weight and texture so I can use Derwent Inktense pencils without buckling the paper. The paper in this book has all those things, it is a white colored paper with a smooth yet toothy texture. I can layer and layer with this paper. The pages are double sided and the double page pictures have a strip in the middle of them that has no drawing so you are not coloring in the spine. The only problem with that is there is a break in the picture but you can color in that strip so the picture flows seamlessly. The book is the same size as Basford's books and the same shape. The cover and the back have a matte finish so you can color on it. The cover is not removable and the pages are not perforated. After you have opened to a page the page seems to gape open after the book is closed. I think a few heavy books on top of it may help with that problem. This book is a great buy for the detailed art and the quality that went into the making of this book. A must have book !!!!!!
