Crystal clear water… every time!
I use this Marineland Magnum polishing filter every time I clean the the tank and change water. The results are spectacular within the hour producing crystal clear water. The filter typically lasts for more than a year with a quick rinse between uses. Great quality and value for an integral piece of my aquarium maintenance.

Wonderful filter
This filter insert does a fantastic job of removing suspended debris from my tank. I change it twice a week, using two filters in rotation. My first pair lasted one year. My best advice is to follow cleaning instructions, and do not use any mechanical means of cleaning. Don't use your fingers, a brush or anything. Just spray with water removing as much junk as possible, then soak in a 25% solution of chlorine bleach for about 24 hours. Then rinse thoroughly and air-dry. They look like new with this treatment. UPDATE: I have also learned that these filters age over time in spite of appearing to clean up quite well with chlorox. I find that my old filters work well for a week or more while the new ones show reduced flow and some filter noise after 2-3 days. Same tank and filter housing. I find that the new ones are filtering better, by not letting as much material through, thus they are loading up faster. This is actually what you want. The water is even cleareer as a result. Well, I thought if 24 hours soaking in bleach solution is good, how about 5 or 6 days. DON'T DO IT. The rubber on the filter starts to dissolve and become very sticky. Had to discard. Stick with the instructions! Don't do what I did. Still a fantastic product!! Good luck.

Excellent Filter!
This is an excellent filter. It really cleans and polishes the water💧. I have three FLUVAL FX6's on a 200g tank and they do a great job, but! The water wasn't crystal clear. This filter in a Marineland Magnum really polished the water, absolutely love it. It's now crystal clear using this filter. Follow the cleaning instructions correctly. It calls for bleach and water, soak 24 hrs, remove and rinse well. This works beautifully. But don't leave the filter in the water and bleach any longer. It will melt the blue rubber top and bottom. I forgot and left it soaking for 4 days, and it did melt the rubber and had to throw it away. Follow the instructions and it'll be good.

Work well
Currently using these filters for a ice bath. They filter well and keep the water clear. While Ive only been using them for a few months, I have two that I rotate out so i can keep one running at all times. They can be cleaned in multiple ways but thus far they are durable and working well.

Works as expected!
This is a factory replacement filter media. It works as expected, resulting in very clean water. The price however is an absolute rip off. They make sure the size is proprietary too, so you can't just buy an off the shelf filter to replace it. This could easily sway my future decisions as to what filter system I choose. It was reasonable at the old price, but is now getting way out of reason. Shame you have to get so greedy Marineland! Your losing a customer on this one!

Diatomaceous Earth works great
I see some reviews had trouble priming this unit with D-Earth. I have used it that way about a dozen times and have not had any problem. I too used a 5 gallon container, and per instructions I filled the bucket with water high enough to cover the unit. Then turned the unit on and then put in 6 tablespoons of D-Earth (Harris Earth Food Grade). It took about 20-30 minutes before the buckets water was clear. I let it run an extra 20 minutes. I have found that you must handle the unit like it was filled with nitroglycerin when moving it from the bucket to the aquarium. The more it gets shaken the more D-earth will come out after you start it inside the aquarium. Expect some no matter how gently you handle it. Not to worry though, it will clear it up. At least it always did in my 70 gallon aquarium. I let mine run overnight each time. As for those who had problems. I can only guess that perhaps the washer placed on the inside of the filter that the cartage rests on was missing or not centered. Or the cartridge itself was defective or too much or too little d-earth was used. D-Earth increases water polishing significantly.

Great filter quality
This is a great filter replacement. A few have said it did not fit the internal polish filter but they fit perfectly in my experience. After a few years I just replace them with a new one though nothing was wrong with the others. I will buy again.

This cartridge is used in my Marineland submersible filter. Your aquarium will look as clear as some those you see where the fish are floating in the air. It can be cleaned (see enclosed instructions) and used over and over. I love them.

The filter arrived on time in great condition. It was easy to set up. I run it on a timer, every other hour during the day. Things to consider: 1. I ordered the foam filter cover for extra filtration BUT the canister is a snug fit and with the foam cover is very difficult to get the two in and out so I do not use it anymore. Also, it restricts the water flow from being so tight. 2. I use a 20% bleach solution to clean the filter and it seems to work very well. HOWEVER, make sure you stir the bleach solution before inserting the filter into the cleaning container. On my last clean I put the filter into the container, filled it with water then poured in my cup of bleach and walked away. NOT GOOD. When I took out the filter the next day one end (not sure if it was top or bottom) of the filter's rubber was rotting and became very sticky. I think the bleach either settled to the bottom or stayed on the top causing the rubber to ROT and it is now sticky as honey. The directions do not mention this problem. All in all, I recommend this filter and would buy it again. Oh, another thing, some people complained about the red stripe. Well, a simple application of a strip of black electrical tape over the stripe and its hidden.

It is efficient and quiet but does require more frequent cleaning or changing of element but that is probably a good thing.
