Hellwig 7709 Solid, Heat Treated Chromoly, 7/8" Rear Sway Bar

While the current generation Ram 1500 is known for a good ride, thanks primarily to its coil spring suspension, it can still exhibit noticeable body roll when taking corners.Enter the Hellwig Sway Bar.I learned about this product through a Ram 1500 Message Board. So many positive comments couldn't be wrong could they?Nope. They were correct. The Hellwig is a very good way to add better handling to a three ton truck. It won't turn it into a sports car, but it feels much more planted when taking corners.Installation was fairly easy. I do recommend doing it in a garage or some place where you won't be attacked by ants (as I was) while crawling around under your truck. As the product description states, there are three different levels of stiffness. I have mine on the firmest setting right now, hoping it makes a difference while towing our travel trailer. Since I haven't done a back-to-back towing comparison with the bar on different settings, I can't tell if it makes a positive difference, but it certainly doesn't make the towing experience worse. If I wasn't towing, I'd probably go with the middle setting. The ride seems a tad harsher with it set to the firmest level, but not much and the tradeoff for the improved handling is definitely worth it.

Very easy and straight forward install. Honestly, I didn’t expect too much from the upgraded bar as my Limited stock sway bar felt somewhat solid. However, comparing the thickness and the three adjustment points made this a drastic change. I placed my bar on the middle position and bolted everything up. I opted to re-use my bolts as my truck is only a couple of months old and everything snugged up just fine without issue. Test drove around 50 miles after install and the truck feels a lot more stable in corners and turns. I’m no drifter or trying to drive beyond my capabilities or the truck’s. However, it just feels more solid and planted now. I’m very happy I got this and hope it makes a difference once camping season rolls back around and we hook our camper up. Recommend this upgrade/modification if you want to add a bit more enjoyment into your truck’s handling.

This replaced the OEM sway bar on my 2015 RAM 1500 Crew Cab 4X4. The OEM bar is nothing more than a very lightweight hollow tube which is virtually worthless for its intended purpose. The Hellwig bar on the other hand is a very substantial piece of solid steel bar. You can easily feel the difference in ride and handling. Going slowly over parking lot speed bumps at an angle with the OEM bar would cause the truck to rock violently from side to side and would bounce your head off the side window. The Hellwig bar eliminates that almost entirely. There is still side to side movement but in a much more controlled manner. The Hellwig bar even has 3 different mounting positions for the Endlinks so you can dial in your desired amount sway control. Installation was well under an hour - there are only 6 fasteners - 4 bolts for sway bar to axle mounts and 2 nuts for sway bar to endlinks. You'll need a basic Metric 3/8" or 1/2" socket set and a set of Metric combination wrenches. Can't recommend this product more highly!

My 2014 ram regular cab came with the oem swaybar, its a joke. This Hellwig unit is much stouter and the quality is evident. I at some point will probably need to get a crew cab ram due to growing family, but if i do well Ill take this Hellwig off and put it on the next truck, saved the factory piece just for that. Can't say enough about the difference in how my truck drives, feels much more solid and planted, whether on a corner or on horrible missouri city streets, much less head wobble while driving it on uneven roads or body lean on the corners and if anything the ride quality in my opinion is improved. Doesn't feel harsher and without the slight side to side motions on uneven road, makes a truck that was already my favorite vehicle ever that much better.

I had death wobbles and rocking on the freeway at high speeds. The stock bar is scrawny. Don’t forget to switch out the following. Do it right: rear sway bar end links, front and rear shocks, front sway bar end links. I don’t it will have handle like a sports car but it was. Hell of a improvement

WOW!!! Yes, you need this! Immediately noticeable difference, wish I would have installed this years ago! I was skeptical at first because I am not a gear head, but I was wrong. It was easy to install (40 mins) and I could tell the difference right away. Cornering felt a lot more solid. The off ramp on my way to work has a 15 MPH sign and before I felt I couldn’t do over 20 MPH because my loosely rolled more than I was comfortable with. Now I feel like I can do 30 MPH around the same turn with this sway bar. DONT DO THAT, the point I’m trying to make is this makes my truck feel a lot more stable in a turn. I don’t tow too often, but I still recommend this even for daily driving.

If your truck didn’t come with a sway bar don’t add one. There isn’t enough grease to stop the popping and grinding sounds every time I drive my truck. With the end links it’s $500 wasted. Another in a long line of bad decisions where this bucket is concerned

This has to be hands down the greatest thing I have ever put on a truck. My 2016 Ram 1500 did not come with one and it was so annoying going around curves and swaying back and forth like you and on a boat. I started in the middle hole after looking at a lot of pictures that seemed to be where everyone ended up. It was instant gratification. It feel a little to tight at first if you are not used to it. It feels like god has his foot on the bed of your truck holding it in place. After one circle around town and 10 mins on the highway I was used to it and I swear I will never drive a truck without one again. My truck went from mushy to sport mode. I wish I could tighten on the front just a hair so they feel more even. But I am guessing that’s what the first hole feels like. I’ll play with it later on. If you are on the fence and thinking about it. Do it. Best money I spent on my truck so far.

This thing is fantastic, mine is on the middle setting and I love the balance.It has made a substantial difference and is still adjustable to be softer or stiffer.It keeps the truck much more planted around the corners; don't be fooled, this is still a truck; however the rear-end is much more controlled around corners.

This sway bar is worth it's weight in gold. It immediately changes the driving dynamics of the truck. The stock bar is a toy by comparison, and hard to believe that it actually does anything.This bar makes the truck feel much more confident in turns and twists even in everyday driving.You'll notice the difference the moment you turn out of your driveway.

Easy install and the hellwig was almost twice the size of the stock bar I put new links also and the ride was 10x better than before . Highly recommend

A must have. Way better than stock. You van tell how much better it is as soon as you remove the old one. The old one may as well be a coat hanger compared to the strength and stiffness in this one. So easy to install
